But my question would be this, and it genuinely makes me think maybe my gut instinct is wrong in this case. Imagine you have, for example, made a mistake, got involved in something accidentally or deliberately which you then cover up successfully.

You are in a position to fade away into oblivion, ie no one in authority suspects you or even if they do there is no way to prove it or it would have been done...would you really continue to bring attention to yourself or the case?

yes we've all seen parents on tv pleading for a missing child to come home ( the Karen Matthews case) or for info to 'find the killer' ( the Philpotts) , who have been guilty of the crime themselves but that has always been in the initial week/s not years later...?

He didn't apply to have his license renewed in the UK as he was employed in the USA.

Some missing children seem to capture attention, though not many attract as much money from the authorities as Madeleine.

We have a child here, disappeared in Victoria in 1991. Michael's mother was playing in a pick-up game of soccer, Michael was playing in the close-by children's playground with other children, and someone watching out for them.

He disappeared in the space of a few minutes, and no sign has ever been found of him. His disappearance is still considered an open case of abduction by the Victoria police.

Every weekend close to March 24, there is media attention, his parents are interviewed, and there is a walk in Victoria to raise attention to him but also to raise money for a local Child Find Fund.


It is similar to Madeleine, in that the parents are keeping his name in the public eye ............. but also his disappearance at the time captured to attention of the public, so many of us say "oh is it that time of year".

I seem to recall that too that the children were dosed up with calpol so they wouldn't wake up to find their parents not with them!

The only people I feel sorry for in this whole case are all the children because none of it is their fault and the surviving siblings will have to carry this sad thing with them for the rest of their lives even though they are too young to remember the event, with it still being in the news etc, those twins can only keep wondering what happened to their big sister.

I don’t think there will be a happy ending sadly David someone somewhere knows what happened that evening in May 2007, in my opinion her parents or one of their friends knows something but I don’t think she will ever be found and the money from the home office is money that could go elsewhere
