I wish the RAF a happy anniversary.
I had a Grandfather, step-grandfather and father in law in the Navy (2 Commanders and a Lieut.Commander), my dad was in the Fleet Air Arm (combination of Navy and RAF), and my ex was in the RAF.

My great great grandfather was a mechanic with the RFC as it was then when his daughter was born in 1919.

One of the blokes who worked with Fred on the council had a DFM.

Lot of good that did him!

My other half and my father were in the RN (OH Fleet Air Arm) My Grandfather and great grandfather were in the R Marines, I worked (in the 50s) for the Admiralty, so I always felt an allegiance to the dark navy uniform. However, from 1982 I worked for 18 years for the RAF (MOD civilian) and I always felt very proud to be working for and with them. So I am wishing them a very Happy anniversary.

This piece in the Indy is interesting as the RAF turns 100.

One of my rellies was numbered among "the Few" - he survived the war and went back to his peacetime job of printing.. Several more fought with the RAF one of whom is comm. on the Runnymede Memorial.

The RAF remains the thin blue line behind which we all enjoy a taken for granted security.
