Thank you so much Von.

Because of your advice I have found that my grandfather (who I had already found on the 1920 electoral register) was on the absent voters list in 1918 and that he was in the army, which none of the family ever knew about. My dad was 10 at the time so I suppose he must have known but never mentioned it. I can also download his medal card (sadly no service record so it must have been destroyed).

I do very little family history these days but finding little extra bits like this fires up my enthusiasm again.

Thanks again - we hopefully learn something new every day!

You're welcome Kath.
If you put in 1920 then +/- 5 yrs there are pages from 1918 - 1925.

They don't come up with a name but if you click on the image you get a whole page including the surname that you entered. :-D :-D :-D

Thanks for explaining how to find it Von. I have been finding family members on those records but I have been clicking the link in the email I received each time because I can never find anything very easily from the site itself.

Found my father-in-law in Gateshead but at an address we didn't know about before, so it all adds to the picture, and the house still exists so we can see it on Google street view.

Island

If you click search >census>electoral rolls
Add name and year as 1920 - it works then :-D

I can't even find it. Is it listed under it's own heading?
Anybody?
