Bob - have I heard of the term 'Gull Wing' in sailing?
No.
Looked it up - and now know why I wouldn't like to go sailing - FAR too mathematical :-(
Does it make the boat go faster?

They were clever pheasants - they knew they were safer on the ground :-D

Caroline,
Ringwood was fairly quiet. Some shops appear to have a half day closing on Wednesdays!
Everything else was closing up around 3, but I managed to get some Huss from the fishmongers, sweetbreads from the butcher and veg from the greengrocer :-D :-D

The swan limbo under the bridge.

How was Ringwood today busy??

you HAVE heard a term "GULL WING" when a sailing yacht has the sails spread one on each side of the boat?

today while out shooting targets...a family of Pheasant came meandering by, seemingly not bothered by the sound of the shots or the bullets whizzing over head!!

He probably couldn't - unless he actually moved his feet and steered towards the bank - or took off - but he seemed very happy :-D
He actually had his wings just away from his body - like he was making himself as aerodynamic as he could :-D :-D :-D

We went to Ringwood today, mainly to pass through, and have a look at, the rather wet New Forest.
Once there, after a 'cursory' walk through town, we headed for 'The Fish Inn', where we procured a half of 'Swordfish' each, and sat by the very swollen river.

The A31 passes over the river. The river was so high, it didn't look like there was enough room for a duck to swim under the bridge, and the river was flowing extremely fast.

As we sat in the garden, by the river with our beer, a very proud swan appeared on the water, looking extremely proud of itself, and sailed by at a fair rate of knots!!

How he got under the bridge I will never know, but having succeeded, and being taken so fast without having to move a feather - he was certainly cock -a- hoop :-D :-D
