Well, Easter was early this year Joy so don't fret too much. I think it is supposed to warm up end of next week, meanwhile it is getting colder here again tomorrow so we are not getting too excited. Nice to be reminded what spring is like though. We always used to say we didn't put any plants out until June because of frosts but the past few years have been different. I think this year has reverted to what it used to be.

Ann its still Winter here in the north east
I am sat with my hot water bottle and my snuggy over my knee
I normally have my Garden and baskets all sorted and out by Easter

This year I haven't even started :-( :-(

I have had to come in now too, it is lovely out there but too hot for gardening and I am tired. We are assured it won't last!! I have made up 12 baskets but they are not outside they are half in the greenhouse and half in the conservatory. And then I did half an hour weeding and clearing out a couple of ferns. Noted OH has been helpful and added a top up of soil to the Hostas which are growing well. However he has not covered them in grit. He says he will do when the rugby he is watching has finished. Knowing his memory I now have to keep an eye on that situation. He also expressed surprise that I had brought a pot with a seemingly dead fern up to recover on the patio. It will regrow. He said he was going to bin it :-( :-(
It really feels as if spring may actually be on the way. :-) :-)

Its too early yet here to put out our new pots and baskets I can not wait for them to go out to cheer up my garden.

There a few still here who I do not have on FB and love to converse with. Still a few I wouldn't spit on if it saved their lives. Never kick a dog when its down the dog never forgets ;-)

I will suffer for the reporting and sharing the major incident I have no doubt about that :-D

Fewer queries on the 'research' boards certainly, but that's in part down to the availability of free genealogy help pages on FB and again as you note the lack of updated records here, for a lot of people it's worth going to FMP for the 1939 reg alone.

It's still been worthwhile helping on FA or FLR just the same, not everyone knows how to find records or where the 'quirky' ones might be, and if you can help reunite siblings say who have never met it's worth the £20 just for that?

Sad that people don't always feel comfortable adding to most threads. We as adults can agree to disagree surely.

As for humour well Allan brings his part time job onto the threads most days.

:-D :-D :-D at the majot incident. Such is village life huh?

I agree with most of what you say Madge although the site still has something to offer to me. I still have friends on here, maybe not all the original friends I had 15 years ago but good friends non the less. and I still have plenty to chat to on here. Although, as you probably know, I am also on FB so divide my time a bit.

Right back out in the garen among the pots and baskets. :-)

At leased the trolls and people I didn't like made up a community, just because I didn't like them others did. I joined this site 12yrs and was very new to IT and the net. I joined for the purpose of tracing my FT/FH which I did and still have a rumage. It helped me immensely in my career little was I aware of that at the time. 12 Yrs on the site has no more to offer than it did then in the way of records and information. I don't actually think theTips board ( or what ever it is called now) actually moves at all, again another victim of the board police the fire breathing dragons that marched all over it demanding what you could post and what questions you could ask and were and when. Another lot they have got the board they deserve. :-D As I said to LaGooner the other night about this very one.
I am sure I will be told or the even this thread reported for being on the wrong board as it may be deemed at a game thread, I am sure the Old Bat will appear later in the day to tell me, but its the wrong time of day for her she will be still hanging upside down in her cave but she will appear she always does ;-)

As for my friends, some are still here and if the others have never returned I am sure they have no interest to do so I certainly would not enourage them too.

Eldrick forgets about this site and that is why he is a constant member :-D He appeared briefly the other night, however there is a major on going incident in their village for the past 2 days. He like other villagers have been dealing with all the local media and offering comradery. The missing kitten was actually found 2 hrs later but they are still floating along on the excitement. ;-)

If you ( mentally) list the number of people who no longer post or no longer can post on the site you'll see why it's quiet, even if you note your friends ( and not trolls/people you don't like) who no longer post it's a substantial number. No one new is joining, not that you can get on here first or third time anyway.

As you so rightly note "Nothing on this site records are complete tosh!"

As Joy said, maybe now you're back other friends of yours will return and the board will move fast again, Eldrick's here so that's a plus isn't it?

You may remember the time when people talked more about my display towels and nails than I actually did, or no matter what subject I post a thread it would mostly be turned in to light hearted banter and not always by me and that was cool. Yeah Ann nowt wrong in asking for advice or giving any if they actually know what they are talking about. Nowt wrong with "seeking attention" either if it floats your boat and you don't get any else where. I personally have never found the need :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Apr 2018 11:59

Nowt wrong with asking for and getting advice either really Madge. It is all part og GR's rich pattern and remember when talking about display towels etc was dominating the threads. No different.
We just need to find interesting threads ourselves don't we. What would you consider interesting.
Oh, I am just popping in between gardening so forgive me if I don't reply for a while.
By the way there was a time when people complained because Greaders dominated the hobbies thread. Now we are no more :-( The Hobbies thread is static.

Love Mersey's threads they cheer me up in the mornings. :-) :-) <3
