No odder than your hearsay Magpie - why the multiple !!! ??? bit rude!

FYI I was just going along with the stuffy ambience which has fallen upon the thread today.

Only odd if you are bereft of an SOH :-(

What an odd comment!!

With all this talk of adulterers. ‘causes’ and heaven forbid, girlfriends before marriage, Charles squared up to the Brigadier and spat “Sir, you are a bounder, a cad and a poodle faker”.
“Come sweet Camilla and park your bowls in my private apartment”

The lady simpered coquettishly into a lace handkerchief.

Orff with their heads!

Because one close friend on the programme told us! I don't want to know it particularly! Just repeating what was said!!

How would you know that magpie?

Why do you want to know that?

Brigader P.B was a serial adulterer, and no Camilla didn't give him cause. P.C came back into her life because her husband was continuously unfaithful which made her deeply unhappy. P.C was sympathetic and kind.

No David maybe the other way round.

One of his pre marriage girlfriends was Princess Anne.

Well that's unfortunate Pat. I wonder if Camilla was giving him "cause"

He recently lost his second wife, aged 68.

Brigadier Parker Bowles was having affairs all through his marriage

David Report 25 Apr 2018 12:42

I felt sorry for Brigadier Parker Bowles who's never been able to complain.

Guinevere Report 25 Apr 2018 11:00

I think most people aren't really bothered if Camilla becomes queen now.

The truth about Diana and Charles' marriage has been out there for years now - both had affairs. Neither was the innocent party. Diana may have been the first to be unfaithful but Charles was not a kind and loving husband.

Diana was a very unhappy child who never really grew up and she made a disastrous marriage and compounded that by having affairs, some with married men. Not nice.

Charles was brought up in strict formality and went to a horrible school where he was very unhappy. Not the most emotionally mature person.

They both tried to be good parents and Will and Harry seem to get on fine with Camilla - so if they are happy it's not really our business, I suppose.

Not sure Camilla is a schemer any more than Diana was, she doesn't seem bright enough for that.

I much prefer the less formal approach of the younger royals to the older ones.

I agree with Magpie,Emma and Guinevere.
Charles wasn’t allowed to marry Camilla and Mountbatten and Queen mother,
Who along with Lady Fermoy Diana’s gran, had a lot to do with getting Diana into the picture.
I watched Camilla last night and she is certainly more suited to Charles than Diana ever was.
If the royals had to follow tradition these days as they did in the last century.Harry wouldn’t be able to marry Megan.
Look at Duke of Windsor and Princess Margaret!
I’m glad we have a Royal Family and not just an elected President.

I like the Queen Philip I am not to sure about
But I do think if Charles makes Camilla his Queen
a lot of people wont be happy me included
I don't like scheming ways and how she is been pushed onto us

I love William and Harry they are a credit to Diana
And I think Kate is lovely
Didn't she look good leaving the Hospital with the baby

I hope Harry has a marriage that's long and happy
I think he is my favorite :-D :-D

One of the unique features of the UK constitution is that there is no separation of powers as are considered a foundation of democracy going back to Jefferson. With the UK the executive sit in the House ( mainly the Commons) and as a result most of the time the Commons is a rubber stamp. The Upper House is a shambles. The one body which has taken up the cudgel of rule of law and liberty is the Supreme Court. It is no surprise then that the Tories plan to suppress the Human Rights Act and replace it with an emasculated version under control of the executive. Corbyn's bunch are silent letting May do the dirty work which his socialist state would require.

The whole unwritten constitution is an utter mess. The current imbroglios of Windrush, Grenfell, brexit and criminal money laundering by criminal gangs in West London are a few of many signs of a failing state.

The job of the UK sovereign is to inform, warn and advise. It is also (Magna Carta) to protect ordinary citizens against an over mighty executive. This just has not happened since 1952.

The UK needs a proper democracy not a fake.

Okay so this elected person would just be basically a figurehead then would they or would they have power over Parliament?

If it's only going to be elected head of state then stick with the PM.

That said I'm not a big fan of Charles but I do think he will step up to the plate and take over no problem. Lets be honest it won't be for long then it's William.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 24 Apr 2018 17:24

Why would an elected head of state mean doom? Even the USA is doing OK with the most reviled Portus in my lifetime. As it is rule is to pass to a pair of cranky and self absorbed geriatrics. Unless somebody eases William into the job it us unlikely there will be a throne to inherit. Like his predecessor Charles believes in divine rights.

The House of Lords would not exist as a surreal outgrowth from Gormenghast without its roots deep into the throne.

Good grief, talk about cat among the pigeons!

After the washing, ironing, cleaning and shopping she has to do surely she can smile and shake a few more hands. After all nobody expects her to do it every working day

She's certainly not lazy!! As has been said HM was born to it and has extremely strong constitution. Camilla may well have health issues, B.P, arthritis, who knows. The joys of old age!!
