Update - Mac's funeral is 29th May at 1.30pm at East Riding Crematorium, Octon Cross road, Driffield

I am very sad to tell you all that our dear Mac passed away suddenly on May 11th.

His wife tells me had been poorly for some time but had seemed to pick up, then he died suddenly after his wife had taken him coffee in bed. It's been a dreadful shock for her but she is fine with me putting this thread up.

I will add more later.

Rest in peace, Mac, a life well lived, and a friend to so many, bless you.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this Liz. I have missed Mac and used to love to read his humerous posts. He had such a witty turn of phrase.

What a shock for his wife, such a sad time for her, so please tell her we are thinking of her and what pleasure he brought to us on Genes. RIP Mac. <3

Ros in Glasgow put the sad news on fb as her hubby and Ray had been in contact so Daphne had let him know. I contacted Daphne from that link and sent my condolences. He and I used to communicate about Malta, he liked to go to the Aviation shows there and the Car museum. etc

You may remember Mac had a bypass op some years ago but had breathing problems for a long time, and had been in hospital several times recently. However he seemed to have picked up and had told his wife he would get up to mow the lawn after he had drunk his coffee. She popped back in to tell him she was off to the shop, and he had passed away.

The Coroner surprised Daphne by telling her Mac had a diseased heart. He will be sadly missed by so many people who shared his interests in the Aviation musuem and elsewhere.

I will direct his wife to this thread later.

I phoned Daphne this afternoon and we had a nice long chat.

Mac's funeral will be at 1.30pm on Tuesday 29th May, at East Riding Crematorium, Octon Cross road, Driffield.

Daphne suggested we might like to think of Mac at the time of his funeral. I am sure many of us will do that.

I think Old Geezer was another of Mac's names.

I wish we had known he was struggling these past months, we could have sent him some supportive messages to show we cared.
