My sister and I did think of crowd funding to get the necessary cash to buy it - you know 'Old family seat sob sob etc', but decided there were more worthy crowd funding causes.

It's been bought by a hotel chain - but first they need to apply for 'change of use' - yes, even they have to abide by planning and 'listed' rules - it's Grade II listed.

Apart from the 'brood' moving in, logically, a hotel is probably the best use for it - at least it will keep it standing!! :-D

Well, upon looking up ancient family 'seats', I came across this one.
We, as a family, have always liked the idea of living within easy proximity of each other, but, of course, not on top of each other - we all like our space!.
This would be ideal :-D

My dream house is a 6 bedroomed detached house. That would mean I could have my family/friends to visit and they wouldn't have to rough it on the floor or sofa bed..lol I would want a separate room though as an office where I could do all my family tree research.

It has to be beside the sea as I was born on sussex coast and have always been next to the sea.happy to see neighbours in the distance.Pub or local shope within a mile.Larger shops 3o mins drive.

Land to grow plenty of veg and fruit trees. Lawns to play croquet and sunbathe on in totally privacy.
Always fancied Cornwall as spent many holidays as a child there.

Oh forgot also to say and a decent guy to share it with :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Florence in the hebrides :-D :-D

Interesting points all of them, good to know many have their dream home although some might want a better view which I totally get. :-)

"Letting go". How true.

We're at the stage in our lives where we ought to be planning for our old age. Although there are modifications we could make to adapt our current house, its a family home and should be used as such. Hence the thoughts on relocating to a bungalow.

Falling Water, Frank Lloyd Wright

def. my no.1

So long, Frank Lloyd Wright
I can't believe your song is gone so soon
I barely learned the tune
So soon
So soon
I'll remember Frank Lloyd Wright
All of the nights we'd harmonize till dawn
I never laughed so long
So long
So long
Architects may come and
Architects may go and
Never change your point of view
When I run dry
I stop awhile and think of you
Architects may come and
Architects may go and
Never change your point of view
So long, Frank Lloyd Wright
All of the nights we've harmonize till dawn
I never laughed so long
So long
So long

and no.2
Windy Hill

Our house in Islington is C19 but most of the interior is Art Deco some installed before I was born other bits and pieces I picked up from architectural salvage (aka skips ). As with many city houses the house is the antithesis of a bungalow going upwards rather than sideways with three floors and an attic. No lift.

Lots of pubs not far away but next to no garden though the view is not so bad if you like urban landscapes and parks. Parking Wars are the biggest drawback.

Old houses, old friends letting go can be really difficult.

I am happy where i am living

its a 3 bed mid terraced house of a block 7 bought as a new build in 1967

Its got a lot of memories of our daughter growing up and getting married from home. and of course of my hubby

I actually dont like the idea of strangers living in my home but my daughter has said it will eventually be sold as she has her own house ,so does grandaughter and none of them want to live in the family home as the memories would be too painful

There has to be one person, there always haves to be one, so I'll get in mow before any one else becomes the one ;-) :-D :-D

I'd like a house similar to the one we have now, but with an adjacent pub on one side and a winery on the other :-D :-D :-D
