Sidami, Genes accounting system is a mystery to most of us. I joined in January 2005 but I pay my sub in November. I have never had a break so they have either given me 9-10 months free, which seems unlikely, or they have taken a couple of months away from me :-S

Margaret is correct ...............

We had several extensions of our subs at one point.......... one or two months at a time either because there had been some major problem with accessing or as a gift (??? for working on the WDYTYA thread???)

For example my profile shows I joined in April 2004, but I pay my sub in September!

I have not broken my membership at any time

RENEW should be showing on the very top line, I think in green(??)

I have been a member since April 2004 and that's when I started paying a sub. However my sub runs out in June this year because of the fact that there was a problem with the site a few years ago and consequently we were give an extra 2 months on our sub.

Ann, the date we see in members profiles is when they first registered not the date they started paying a sub. It doesn't mean there has been a break in membership

I first registered in Sept 2003 but didn't take out a sub until June (2005 I think)

I see you joined in April 2003 but it is now June. did you have a break in membership? If you didn't you should pay the same as last year, if you did it is anybody's guess what they will charge you. But if I remember correctly, when they send the auto renew email, as they should, it will tell you what you will pay.

Kucinta is right, you get a renew option appearing at the top of the page.

The renewal charge should be the same as last time, unless you have had an email from GR advising you of an increase.

"How do I change the card I pay with?

We don't actually store your card details online. If you want to use a different card for your auto-renewal payment, you can do so from two weeks before your renewal payment is due.

Here’s how you can change the card details.

• Select the option to renew your membership on your Genes Reunited homepage by clicking on 'subscribe'.

• Choose the membership package that you'd like.

• Click on the green box titled 'Subscribe'. This is to the right of the payment options list.

• If you are a Platinum subscriber you’ll see the Additional Features page where you can add other records to your package. Standard members won’t see this page.

• This will take you to the payment page. Please ignore the box at the top prompting you to enter your password.

• Go down to the next section and enter the new card details.

This will then be the card we’ll use for future payments."

EDIT: I have a feeling that once I was into the 2 week countdown I actually got an option 'Renew' show up on the Home page, but after that it was pretty much the same as above.

They should send you an email if you have your membership on auto renew

When they find your card is no longer valid they will, advise and then you can go in and put new details

Don't think you can do it till they advise they can't renew

There's no standard price for old members it depends on how long you have had continuous membership

Mine is due on the 18th
