What's the purely American battle of Gettysburg got to do with WW1 battle of the Somme in a war that encompassed most of the globe?!! Gettysburg didn't bring that episode of slaughter to an end! It was in July 1863, the war ended in 1865 after many more hideous battles!!

150 years ago, the Battle of Gettysburg brought another episode of slaughter to an end.

Dear All

Good Evening, please check the edited link for more information about the Somme.

Thank you. xx

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On this evening 30 June, 102 years ago, British and allied troops were preparing
to go into battle against German soldiers in an area of France.

At the end of 1 July 1916, nearly 20,000 people had been killed. Thousands were injured.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Between 1 July and 18 November 1916, more than 3 million men fought in this campaign and one million men were wounded or killed, making it one of the bloodiest in human history.

EDIT: A fellow colleague and friend has asked me to post this on their behalf:

Take gentle care
