This one came second-hand from Amazon but I wouldn't call it inexpensive but it is one I need/want to keep and refer to.

It's been years since I bought a new book. Bought most used from Charity shops.

Then I bought a used Kindle off Ebay and now buy books from Amazon inexpensive.

Lol Sharron

I actually found that book at our local Poundland several years ago

I rarely buy new books - I stocked up in Chapel where there were several outlets of cheap books, secondhand, from 50p to £1.50

I hsve just started on the last one of a dozen.

I don't have one David. New fangled contraption!

Have downloaded things on to that little computer thing but it really is not a book.No magic to it.

If you have a Kindle Sharron it's available for pennies on Amazon

No, it's not up my street. It might be down the harbour though.

I will have to go and have a look, maybe get a part-time job to spin out the pension a bit!

I don't know if it would be up your street, Sharron, and I think it's been mentioned on here years ago, but have you read the Floating Brothel?

Knowing your interest in floating vessels I thought of you, Sharron, when I saw there is to be a series on boats of different kinds, now I can't recall on which channel (excuse the pun) it is to be shown.

Yes, I have been indulging again. I must be feeling better!

Another of the medieval fripperies.

I was quite amused to read about life on merchant ships then.

We all have been led to believe that life in the mercantile marine was rough and frightening with a great deal of violence but I was quite amused to read that the master was allowed to strike a mariner with out retaliation but only once. A mariner might hit back and defend himself if he was struck more than once or if the master chased him right up into the bows.

I don't know if this is where the golden rivet was!
