Happy Anniversary to you both xx

6 girls went out to dinner at one of the town's best restaurants to celebrate leaving grammar school (we didn't call it graduation then!) in 1959 ...... steak or gammon and fries plus a bottle of wine paid for by one girl's father. Both were "unuusal" to us back then!

I can remember that we thought Vesta dinners were exotic back in 1962/63!!!

Go to the pub and have chicken and fries in a basket or a shrimp cocktail was novel food. Gammon with pineapple and fries was a usual offering in a pub restaurant back around 1964 :-D

Happy anniversary Ann and Mr Ann. Here's wishing you many more happy years ahead.

I know what you mean about the food. On Friday I went out for a friend's birthday dinner and had cod loin wrapped in prosciutto (sp?) with a salmon and mozzarella fishcake and hollandaise sauce. Can you imagine what we would have made of that back in the day. Salmon came in a tin, the only cod was battered and fried, and goodness only knows what we would have thought mozzarella and hollandaise sauce were :-D

Congratulations to you both!

Only 2 more years & you/your family can request a Diamond Wedding card from Buck House :-D

For our age group, lamb shanks, if available, were probably boiled up as stock or stew. Strange how foods change in fashion. You should have added prawn cocktail to start & Black Forest Gateau to finish :-D

Happy Anniversary to you both. How lovely to be together for so many happy years.

I know what you mean about prices.
I was thinking back recently to when our older 2 were young. We took them into a shop in Canterbury and their 2 squash / lemonades and our 2 coffees came to over £5 and I remember how we thought that was such a lot of money.
How times change.

We have just been out for lunch. Don’t think I would have known what a Lamb Shank was 58 years ago. Or even cheese cake which we shared afterwards. OH had fish and chips, not much new about that although we would have been shocked at today’s prices.
