Thankyou everyone. I will try those sights. The people I am trying to find census on are, Henry Dawson b.1870 only know his daughter Maud Dawson b.1899. Joseph Shepherd b.1831 married Mary b.1829 they had a daughter, Emma born 1868,,,,,, John Turpin b.1815 Married Hannah b.1813 they had a son, Samuel b.1828,,,,,,,, At the moment I'm just after any census they are on so I can see where the were born, profession etc

Freebmd is free and has a good range of search years

Genes members too have subs to other sites and are only giving happy to do look ups

Do you know their mothers maiden name?

Try https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl for births in England & Wales 1837-c1965.

Also https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp which gives mmn 1837- [edit1917]. Its not shown on Freebmd until 1911.

Although you have to register on GRO, its free to search. In any event, that's the best place to purchase certificates if you need to.

I have got 3 people I am looking into I know their approx year of birth and where they were born but their are too many results coming up. I have tried looking to see if I can add their partners/parents name to the search so I can narrow the results but I can't find where to add this. As I only have 30 credits left I don't want to waste them. Can anyone tell me how to do it please?
