Vinyl records, nothing to beat them. Carefully pull them out of their sleeves, taking care not to touch the grooves, only by the outside edge.

Place them on the turntable, and even the crackles and pops sound good.

Dancing ? sometimes while out walking I'd briefly break into a jig , bit of an eejit ;-)

I've just been watching Northern Soul....nifty footwork :-D :-D

I just like dancing, Madge.

Started to go twice a week now since new classes opened up near us.

I'd not done classes for many years but always kept my hand in by dancing when I could - outside or at home, hence the 'pratting about' remark.

Sis is a trained dancer and choreographer (Laban Centre, London) and Dtr trained in ballet, tap and jazz so danced from a young age - while she was still at school she stood in for injured professionals a few times when they were performing in our neck of the woods.

The three of us have always said that it gives us such a 'feel-good feeling' of well-being.

Northern Soul is new to me though - I still have a lot to learn yet but I'll get there in the end. I really like the moves - only perfected two so far but easily combined to make it flow.

You're never too old to learn something new! :-D

Yes Joy Louise its Northern Soul I first began to be interested in Northern soul when I was about 8yrs I had older sister and if they didn't take me to the youth club with them they couldn't go. I had 2 choices I either got up and joined in or got very bored I choose the to join it. So I have grown up with it. I left the scene to bring up my family, it never went away. So most weekends we are out dancing. I am a vinyl fan and like to hear rare stuff. :-D

OH is used to me pratting around - takes it in his stride now. It's only taken him more than fifty years to get used to me. ;-)

Miserable day here weatherwise but at least it is dry, am sorting out in the office so not a happy bunny....I feel a Cappuccino coming on :-D :-D :-D

Northern Soul came into its own when I was living overseas but recently I have been practising it myself at home. Great music - even better is doing it to Bruno Mars, I think I want to marry you. It lends itself to soul very well ..... In fact it's great for jazz and swing too. :-D
