How long will it take GR to remove the poppy????

I wore my poppy for 2 weeks, which is went they went on general sale, removed it yesterday before I went out.

The tradition over here seems to be to a) leave your poppy at the Cenotaph* immediately after the service is over if you attend there, b) stop wearing it at the end of Remembrance Day or the next day at the latest.

*At the National Cenotaph in Ottawa, the tradition is to lay your poppy on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which is very close to the Cenotaph.

There are no rules regarding the poppy. Doubtless if GR had deleted the poppy on the 12th there would have been cries of 'well they didn't waste any time did they'.

I see the following week out wearing mine and usualy remove it the next Sat/Sun

.our local town hall leave those places on the green till the following weekend as people like to go view them through the week,,usually full of the wooden ones.many older people sit and just look at them away from the crowds..

We went to visit Shrouds of the Somme, an installation at the Olympic Village, yesterday.

It was amazing how many had left poppies, and marigolds (I don't know the significance of them) next to models.

Made it all the more poignant.

The Marigold is India equivalent of our Poppy

It is possibly set to go automatically at midnight on 14th/15th November each year. The 14th being the latest day on which Remembrance Day can occur.

(edited to avoid ambiguity)

The Poppy & the PM might vanish at the same time.

AFAIK May is still there but the Poppy and Raaab have gone.

Last year the baubles came on 1st December and went at the end of the 5th January.
