Does anyone know if still births/deaths were recorded in Australia between 1950 --1960 please.

Whether you can access it is another matter entirely!

You could use the Ask a Librarian Service. They should be able to advise you on a nationwide basis

"A stillbirth, a baby who is at 20 weeks gestation or more, but showed no signs of life after birth, is still registered as a birth. You may apply online, in person, or by mail for a birth certificate of your child, if the stillbirth was in NSW."

No obvious link about when they were started, but even if they were recorded from 1950's, you wouldn't be able to access the index. NSW has a 100 year closure on births.

This is the link to the NSW Ask a Librarian Service. They'd be able to tell you when the State started to issue Still Birth Certificates.

In the NSW online BDM database you can search for free for:
Births over 100 years ago
Deaths over 30 years ago
Marriages over 50 years ago

So no luck with births but you will find deaths.

Click on the blue box with START SEARCHING on the top right hand side:

The Ryerson Index is also useful to locate NSW death notices. Just Google it.
