Don't always trust the GRO to have a look for certificates.
I sent for a Death cert for a person died 1956 Leeds.
I sent all the details name,district,Year/Quarter and and GRO number.
Got a refund as they said it didn't match with the details I had sent.

So I rang them and the chap took all the details Name,District and quarter/year
.went for the Priority postage.

I received an email to say they had looked for the year 1956 to 1958 and couldn't find it again.

What a palaver just to get this cert.

So I rang Leeds registry office LATE Tuesday pm.

Gave him all the details name, district.and the year.

Guess the district offices are slightly more on the ball as I received the death cert this morning by registered post.

This cert is my nephew's and he died of Leukaemia after clearing Horoshima/Nagasaki after the Nuclear bombing during WW2.

Maybe for some reason Leeds didn't pass on the death details

I wasn't going to answer as I was looking out of interest and don't have anything to add Sue, but I have not wanting to send the total up. don't forget a lot of people can't answer.
Glad you got it in the end anyway.

Yes it's weird but it was my niece in OZ that sent me his details about his death.

Maybe they are Meant to pass on the details.

I once went to a talk by an expert who told us his daughters marriage hadn't appeared on the GRO. He said he knew she HAD married as he had given her away on the day!

Am thinking that " doesn't Match," is the key phrase there.....what they have may not tally with the original??
