To be fair Dermot wrote on this thread but didn't actually comment on it....just to split hairs :-)

I call myself British by the way as one parent Scottish one Welsh and I was born in England.

As for being permanently banned why Rollo surely you wouldn't be the RR.....and am I the only one not getting the marmalade comment??

Rollo, stop generalising!

FGS, we all know there are good and bad in every country.

Why would you think you could be banned - unless someone has reported you? Personally, I quite like it when you stick your two-pennorth in as it sometimes livens up a discussion.

Not sure whether you are associating marmalade with being British, referring to a cat or ????? The reference is a bit obscure to me.

Please explain!

Give it a rest Rollo.

Rollo, I think you'll find the nobility of Britain spoke mainly their own languages, with Anglo-Norman as a second language.
Anglo-Norman isn't the same as Continental or Parisian French, and French never became the official language of England.
Most areas of Britain had their own form of language - many of these languages had a Celtic base.
My own ancestors spoke Kernewek (Cornish) and Breton, as they had close links, and the languages were very similar - but NOT the same, and Breton isn't French, just like Kernewek isn't Welsh, though the Cornish language is a Celtic language of the Brythonic branch, as are the Welsh and Breton languages.

Breton was the language of the upper classes of France until the 12th Century
Literature was generally in Latin, and Jewish, and Kernewek in Cornwall.

Dermot, the book to which you refer is hilarious. BUT..it is written tongue in cheek, by an author who loves the French. As do I. If I could afford it I would buy a holiday home there.

Can some please point me in the direction of silly childish comments thank you :-D

Of course Babs nowt wrong with keeping your own council as long as you accept that others will keep theirs ;-)

At times I have been known to be childish and stupid, waffling on too much and of being too serious. I am guilty of all three.

All facets of a sometimes-riotous imagination, I claim, and all parts of the rich smorgasbord of life. :-D

Hmmmm - Cinderella.
Woman in her place.
Anyone ever feel sorry for the 'ugly' sisters?
Who made them 'ugly'?
Oh - that'll be their mother.

Caroline

Caroline Report 31 Dec 2018 00:25

Can we say ugly these days isn't that beauty shaming??

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 31 Dec 2018 00:55

But is that 'ugly' as in don't conform to the 'selfie' world, or 'ugly'' as in no soul?

Caroline

Caroline Report 31 Dec 2018 01:05

good question as usually they're shown as actually ugly and act with no soul....this is getting too deep And serious....

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 31 Dec 2018 01:19

Sorry! This is the 'Silly Going on's' thread!
But I've always thought Cinderellla was a bit creepy and warped.
'You with the smaller feet are more sexually attractive than your 'ugly' sisters with bigger feet'?

I have 2 daughters, one has size 3 feet, the other size 7.
I have a 4/5 shoe size, their father size 8.
What does that say for my daughter with the size 7's?

Caroline

Caroline Report 31 Dec 2018 01:52

That when she kicks someone's backside they feel it more than when you do??

Island

Island Report 31 Dec 2018 09:47

To be fair, the ugly sisters had bigger feet because they're blokes :-0
