GR and its sister company FindMyPast do not work weekedns!!

They work 5 days a week ....... Monday to Friday, ca 8:30 am to ca 4:30 pm

Both sites say they will respond withing 3 BUSINESS days

Do not expect a reply to an email sent on Saturday or Sunday to arrive until at least Monday.

Use this email, which can be found on site if you look hard enough!

OR go onto FaceBook if you are on there, find their site and post on there ....... you might get a faster response, or might just be directed to the sipport group.

Colin, few people on here use GR for research. My understanding is that the majority of members are like me. We have the most basic sub to GR (as an early member of the site I pay less than £9 a year) so we can use the boards and talk to other members but we subscribe to other sites like Ancestry, FindMyPast etc for our research needs. There are also, of course, any number of free sites, some of which are very good.

We also all know GR’s email off by heart now: [email protected] but it isn’t that difficult to find. For anyone struggling to find it, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Company Information “ where you will find both the postal and email address.

Has anyone tried ancestry.co.uk ? I'd be interested in opinions - it looks cheaper and, lets face it, I can't say I am very impressed with he GR searches. So, if the tree is not working then the whole site is doom to go the same way as the rest of the DC Thomson empire!

Has anyone actually received a reply to any message from Genes Reunited. I have written to them a few times now, including this morning about this issue, but I have NEVER received a reply - not even a standard 'your feedback is important to us' . Clearly we don't matter (its only our money that's important to them and they already have that!).

p.s. I have also ask for recompense.
p.p.s. I have also had to do some proper searching to find the email address - clearly
they don't want to be contacted.

Maureen - you do need to contact GR directly. They'll be able to reset the gedcom download request. It's been know to get 'hung up' in the past.
