My daughter's Uni friend is from California and his family own an old fashioned amusement arcade.

Most of the machines take US 25c coins but, they are the same size and shape to Canadian ones.
They find loads of Canadian coins in the machines which need to be removed as the US bank will not accept them

Canadian ones are magnetic.
After emptying the machine, they spread the coins out and run a large magnet over them to collect up the Canadian coins.

The family save them up over a long period and periodically take a road trip to Canada.

They make note of all the coin star machines in the areas that they're travelling to and dump as many coins as allowed into each machine.
They convert it into Canadian bank notes which their bank does accept

Simply take it to your bank. Obviously they often refuse part bags but they always do it for me - even with the business and personal accounts.

Have you a metro bank, nearby?

They normally have a coin machine in branch,
Good news, is they don't charge for using it,

A paper receipt comes out, and take to counter, where they change into notes.

Dont have to bank with them,

Not sure what happens nowadays, but in the past small local shops were glad of change because they had to pay banks to supply theirs.

Our local shop took bagged change, which they could easily weigh and gave me notes, which was much easier to take into town to deposit in a bank.

Ask your bank for some coin bags. Mine will take bagged coin only up to a certain (quite small) amount.

When I worked as a bank cashier (more years ago than I care to remember) we would take any amount of anybody, but times have changed.

You can pay coins into your bank account at our local post office as long as you have a bank card.

Just looked at the coin star one that is in a Sainsbury’s store ( I didn’t know they had one) and it charges 10.9% for the privilege, I think I might use it to pay for shopping instead.

I save coins in a jar and take them to a coin machine, lots of supermarkets have them.
