I had to use all my mental agility this morning to avoid agreeing to purchasing a stair-lift from a youngish enthusiastic fellow.

I allowed him to complete his sales pitch which was impressive particularly as some descriptive words he used I would find hard to spell. Anyway, I complemented him on his knowledge of the appliance. I shouldn't have done that as it prolonged his supplementary topic of 'price bands' depending on the size(s) of the operating motors & electricity connections.

At the end, I pointed out that he was standing in front of my bungalow. He turned away in disgust uttering various foreign words that have not yet been approved by the Collins Dictionary panel.
