Got a wonderful surprise from dtr this week - booked OH and me a room at Old Trafford Hotel with a balcony to watch a World Cup cricket match for two nights in June. All meals served direct to our room. She and the young un will be in the room next door (her OH could not get the weekend off).

Londonbelle I was thinking about you yesterday. I am reading Almonds and Raisin's and the book is set in Manchester around Bury New Road and Strangeways area. They are Jewish Russian Immigrants. It then mentions the Red bank area and that is were my Great Grandmother was born of Irish Immigrants in the 1860's ( the book is set in 1905)
So off I ran for my box of tricks certs census print outs to find the road or street where she was born. I then noticed on the census form that all they neighbours head of the house hold was tailors, and set my brain a whirling, was they working and living in sweat shops as the book describes some 40 years later?

I am mentioning this to you 1....I am alone at home and have no else to tell and if there was their eyes would just glaze over. and 2...you are already familiar with our Nicholas and his wife who is older than her husband by considerable years and constantly lies about her age. :-D

About 30 mins sorting out Wednesday's meeting, washing up after our quick lunch, sorting out my tea, OH wants pizza, being head cheerleader and medic for the rugby and catching up on the TV progs we missed last week. :-0
