There are some very nice correspondents on the boards and, as yet, no one who has yet managed to upset me into silence. There are some whose style I admire too. :-D

I remember list Joy I was not on it as I said I was very much a fence sitter, it was not argument so I stayed out it in fact at times I was terrified to even post.

I can not even remember my user name for the FTF site, it may of been the same as here at the time Wilde childe :-D now that place was extremely clichey and if you was not in with a certain crew you was ignored. So most of us decamped back here. The cliche stayed and would often post on here when WW3 was in full swing to say how they never came on here it was horrid and off to a better place which I always found rather strange. :-S

I found those people far more interesting than the reply to list
I replied to who I chose too

And I was proved right
Some of my very good friends were on that list :-D :-D

Never knew there had been an all-out ban for days! I too thought the boards could be negative when I first joined so just read once in a while, there seemed to be a lot of people who knew each other.
Maybe I should apply to join FTF :-)

I was scared off posting on this Board within a couple of days of first posting back in 2004 after being accused of being someone else called Sylvia who "WAS NOT WANTED ON HERE!!!!!!"

I tried again a couple of years later, found a thread that looked interesting,it was something about Canada, and I posted. Then I was accused of being Janey Canuck under another name, and pretty vilely abused again.

I didn't post on General for several years after that. I just thought you were a lot of mean people like we were dealing with on Friends Reunited, and decided I had no need of the aggravation ..........

......... so I was driven away in those days. I kept to the genealogy boards, and knew nothing about why we were suddenly not able to access GR.

I was among the first to be invited to join FTF, but didn't actually sign up until late in 2007, and even then didn't post often, but it has been much better than GR in recent years from the point of view of good genealogy.

All sounds very intriguing......

I notice all people who caused all the troubles are gone

Some of those spats
Made me some very good forever friends
Most of which have left Gr
But we have remained Real life friends
And some really wonderful People off here have
passed away sadly But we have never forgot them :-( :-(

When I got my life ban, any thread with the mention of Hayley or Empress was deleted immediately everyone was waving to ~~~~~~~ fan of Cilla Black :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

It all started over nothing and someone took a comment very out of content and all hell broke loose, the person who made the comment was very new but was accused of being someone else and was absolutely slated. In the end she gave as good as she got and I think a few of the old regulars did not like it, loads got bans, some deserved them some looking for them and others totally innocent like our BC. We thought it was the end of GR as Kay says 3 days the shut down was, one or two found a way in the back door but got very lonely.

Do you remember we weren’t allowed to ~~~~~ at the banned members of to rephrase it those on a GR holiday. The first banned member I waved to was Muffy :-D :-D

I said 2006 It was September 2006, I could even tell you who started it and it was not me I was a confirmed fence sitter in them days, it was originally set up by Pipper Doll her then husband and his friend the latter was not members of GR. They did the original layout of the site but had no interest in running or moderating it.

Yes she did Joy it was 8 weeks ban back then

FTF was set up in 2006, by people like Olde Crone, Glen in Tinsel etc. Most if them are still there. I don't think it was ever taken over by anyone else, but it has matured.

It's a great site now, a lot like GR used to be with helping threads, and a great General thread where no-one is RR'd, banned or even nasty.

Yes Sharron you did no riff raff allowed,,,,,,,,but they had a back door they hadn't shut and the things that was seen was worse than on GR at the time.
