'All political lives, unless they are cut off in midstream at a happy juncture, end in failure, because that is the nature of politics & of human affairs'.

(Enoch Powell's famous dictum).

edit 23/6. I see you deleted part of your comment Barbra, thus making my response look rather odd. I'll leave mine though just in case you want to talk your way out of it.

After Corbyn it is difficult to imagine anybody less suited to being PM than Boris. He is easily bored with anything - jobs, friends, lovers and is lazy beyond measure. If his administration ( for want of a better word ) survives to Christmas it will be a miracle.

Freezing out the 100 (Tory) MPs opposed to no deal and denying them govt jobs will just make life even harder

Taking account that two Tory MPs ( at least ) are implacably opposed to his slash n burn brexit project resulting in a govt working majority of one Boris is likely to be campaigning in a real election come September if not before.

It is constitutional law that the Queen as Head of State invites a member of the Parliament to form a government on her behalf. Now the tricky bit is that the Queen has to ask the putative PM if he/she has the sure support of a majority in the Commons.
Maybe the answer of just the one majority formed from Ulstermen and women, tried and true will do. Maybe not.. Maybe it will have to be tested in the House before he gets his tea and biscuits..

Ahem.

Only one British PM has ever been awarded the legion d'honneur. Yesterday the French Pres. Macron added Elton John to the illustrious list presenting the medal in person. I kinda doubt Bojo will ever be considered.

Boris has been having"mid life crisis" ( what's the plural?) for many years, leaving wives and mistresses and children in his wake. I think the 'honeymoon' might be over.

Sad & grumpy. It’s Boris' mid-life crisis.

It should be obvious now. When I posted it was just becoming news on the BBC site.

It is a bit concerning that neighbours are recording such stuff.

RolloTheRed

Kense

Sorry about my mistake Kense. I didn't know.

Kinnock has however a lot of authority in his new role as has Glynis

Kense

Kense Report 21 Jun 2019 10:19

David, the EU commissioners don't make the EU laws, that is done by the EU Parliament, which we did participate in electing.

Trump signed off a US attack on Iran before he knew that the destroyed aircraft was a drone, albeit a very expensive one. Somebody in the chain of command had the wit to get the full facts before starting a war. Trump always right? Very rarely. He has the same problem as Bojo, disregard of the truth.

Bojo will find managing what remains a deeply divided Tory party extremely difficult. He has neither the people management skills nor the ability to work hard that the job requires.

Moreover, as with May, he will have to contend with running a minority government dependent on a greedy and difficult DUP.

There is no majority for his flagship brexit policy to which 10-20 Tory MPs are so opposed that they will block no deal and quite possibkly force a general election. The Tories have not a chance in hell of winning an autumn election.

Bojo should install a zipwire in the Commons for one of the steepest and quickest political descents from high office ever.

In July he is likely to visit the Queen and tell her that he can command a majority in the House. That is a sina que non to become PM.
Lie number 1 ?

Barbra

Barbra Report 21 Jun 2019 09:46

We should listen to Trump then he is always right ;-) :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Jun 2019 00:43

Well, Trump will be laughing .......

....... he was tweeting that Theresa May should step down and let Boris take over weeks before she did.

He said that Boris was the best person to be PM.

It's going to be a laugh a minute, watching it all from across the pond.
