Agree it must have been almost as bad for the guards...still hope yours was a guard though :-)

Been grocery shopping spent too much still have nothing to eat as far as family is concerned...you know the cry of there's nothing good to eat... :-)

Barb, try Ellis Island website for arrivals. I found several of mine, a couple with physical descriptions which was as pleasing as finding some descriptions on Forces' website. :-D

Yes, Caroline, Tasmania and mainland. The dire ones went to Norfolk Island. :-0

It must have been almost as bad for the guards, don't you think?

Some of the earlier arrivals (guards and convicts) became squatterocracy, or so we learned.

Been down to house with more stuff, curtains up
and lamp shades done, kitchen cupboards filled etc.

On the bright side maybe he was one fo the guards/officers watching the naughty ones if that were the case...did they go to Tasmania as well as Australia??

I have had hundreds of snowdrops out for week now. Where did they come from ????

have found ancesters born in Bristol went over to Tasmania over 200 years ago. How brave of them. Unless he was sent there for being naughty. ;-) ;-)
