I do have Amazon Prime and a lot of things I have ordered I would have had to pay postage if I had not had Prime. I use it a lot at Christmas as Son's family all have wish lists on there so I usually get my money back.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Jul 2024 19:20

I have Prime and use Amazon all of the time. We definitely save a lot of money on delivery and it really is worth having.

We had a nice day out. We went to vote in the middle of the day, then came out of the polling station to catch the bus into Harrogate. The buses are every half hour, but we timed it perfectly and only had two minutes to wait. It only took twenty five minutes to get to Harrogate, which was good going. We did some shopping, then went to an art gallery. After that we went to the Majestic hotel for afternoon tea using a voucher my daughter gave me for my birthday. It was very nice, but I dread to think of how many calories it was .
We only had seven minutes to wait for the bus on the way back. It took a lot longer to get back because the traffic is horrendous in rush hour, but driving wouldn’t have been much better.

I get it, if you buy things every month, then yes you probably save. Of all the things I have bought recently, I got free delivery. Or if you spend over £35 you get free delivery anyway.

Well, finely a sunny day, but windy. I have a line full of washing out so hopefully it will dry.
I like watching Wimbledon, but BBC 1 is just full of totally pointless coverage of the election. :-|

Afternoon all

Not a fab day at all, windy, misty and showery!

Anyway I have been busy making the 2nd batch of jam, this time strawberry and I got 7 jars( larger size).. All worked out very well and jolly tasty.

I turned on the TV awhile ago and on BBC1 and 2 was tennis with footie on ITV. Grrrrrr cant wait for all of it to end so we can get back to the usual soaps and other programmes etc.

Not sure what is on later? I have just finished watching a very old episode of Morse. And now Heartbeat is on.

JustGinnie Report 5 Jul 2024 19:03

Yes tv is dire at the moment, all sport or repeats .

Have to agree with you Linda about the election coverage on BBC today so much of it was pointless .

Been a lovely day here so have been in the garden tidying and dead heading the roses etc. One of those £2 roses I 'rescued' from Poundland has got quite big and has very pretty white flowers. The other one has a bud on so well pleased with my bargain.
The cucumbers and radishes are doing well also the carrots and caulflowers. The tomato plants have some good flowers as well.
Just starting to rain now .

Hope Joan is ok and also Sylvia and her hubby.

Take care all.

I haven't been watching the election coverage - it's too repetative.

OH and I are about to watch Channel 5. It's a proramme called Motorway Madness - Hell on the Highway and is dash-cam footage of very bad driving from all over the world. No commentary, and fascinating/horrifying in equal parts. They say noone was seriously hurt in any of the incidents - makes you wonder how they got away with it! :-S

Afternoon all looking in.

Its been overcast and windy all day but have to say the kept kept off and I did get 2 large bath sheets almost dry so only needed 5 minutes to air off in the dryer.

i have been busy spring cleaning lol. Dusted and polished everywhere, vacuumed throughout, ironing and now having a well earned cuppa. The dust collects on a daily basis, its incredible really and there's only me here just now!

The roads are quiet here today so either people away on holiday as schools broke up last week or....glued to Wimbledon :-P Cant stand it soooo boring but each to their own.

I managed out to the bin but wasn't that warm as the wind was cold so I didn't stay out more than 5 minutes for fresh air and then went back inside.

So now having a chill for an hour and then to sort my evening meal but no idea what to have tonight?

Hope everyone well and ok today

The rug arrived this afternoon - and will be going straight back on Monday!
It's advertised as non-slip, and that's definitely not true.

It would be lethal on the laminate floor I intended it for.

I'll just put up with the old rug - which actually looks fine, but the rubber ( non-slip) backing has perished - until I find another .
But not from Temu!

Florence61 Report 6 Jul 2024 16:36

Oh no ArgyllGran. If it wasn't expensive, you may have to write it off! Although, when i ordered all those shabby clothes, I did get refunded and a free return so you may be ok, good luck.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 6 Jul 2024 17:44

It's a free return, Florence, so it'll be fine.

It is hard trying to find rugs and doormats without actually seeing them. I wanted a washable doormat for the utility room. It needed to be much larger than a normal size. It was hard to find the size I wanted. I got one in the end which looks OK, but it is more like a bathmat than a doormat , even though it was sold as a doormat. :-( It will have to do until I come across something better in a shop

I have watched some Wimbledon this afternoon and now of course we are watching the football. I don’t mind , as you say Florence each to their own. For instance, I hate soaps and would never watch them in a million years . We tend to watch documentaries, especially history programmes. I don’t mind good quality dramas on the lines of Morse etc.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 6 Jul 2024 18:14

Speaking of good quality dramas - I have LOVED "Ripley" on Netflix.
Black & white, and very beautifully and cleverly filmed.
Also very funny in places in spite of the sombre theme and occasional violence.

Die to lack of anything of interest on tv, I am actually watching England play :-D :-D :-D OMG, never thought I would be reduced to it lol extra time!

AG, oh so glad you got a free return :-D

Linda, Morse is probably my all time favourite :-D

The whole Morse, Lewis and Endeavour series were excellent. I had the Morse box set and read then three times over the years. I only sent them to the charity shop before we came here.

Argyllgran - and anybody else interested.

We have bought rugs rwice from an online company www.rugsdirect.co.uk They are very good quality, reasonably priced, and excellent service. Worth a look.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 7 Jul 2024 13:37

Thanks for suggesting that, Agingrocker.

I've had a look , and they have one rug which might do.
I'll also do a bit more online shopping around in case the perfect rug jumps out at me somewhere else.

We decided to go and look at the carpet shop which we use in town. We were going to walk, but it started raining, so we took the car most of the way. There is some free disc parking a five minute stroll from the centre which we use. They are coming on Thursday to measure up for the vinyl for the bathroom and en-suite plus the carpet for the stairs, landing and four bedrooms. We chose three possible berbers , so we have borrowed the books for those ranges. I thought they would want them back quickly, but he said he will collect them on Thursday, let’s hope no one else wants those ranges in the next few days. As they have done the wood flooring already, they know we aren’t time wasters. I am a firm believer that with carpets you get what you pay for, so choosing good quality in the first place means you aren’t going to have to replace them in six or seven years.
We also visited our favourite coffee shop, it was lemon and blueberry cake for me today. The owner always asks for my honest opinion on her new cakes. Today, I thought that the cake was beautifully moist, but that the frosting was a bit too sweet. She had tried some and agreed with me. I am not critical in a nasty way, she really does want an honest opinion. She always has five different home made cakes as well as scones, apple pie etc. Her Raspberry and white chocolate cake is still top of the list and probably will never be knocked off top spot.
