You can have some sun from us Joan. It has been horrendously hot today and I took Esme to the theme park. She had a good day because another little boy she knows was there. They hyped each other up at the discos and stage shows, but they had fun. We manage to leave about 3.30 after the last stage show, she doesn’t realise that there is another disco session and foam party before the park actually closes at five. It was all I could do to make sure that Arthur didn’t tell her. We arrive about 10.30 am, so she is tired by mid afternoon as I am

I am glad that you managed to get to the doctors Joan and that your daughter isn’t more badly hurt.

lol Linda, its me that needs the sun :-D :-D :-D

It has finally stopped raining here and I think the wind has died down a bit!

Glad you enjoyed the day with your granddaughter Linda, she's very lucky you are fit and able to take her out & about so much .

I decided to work on family tree stuff this afternoon and look at all the new info that was discovered on the newer generations. The branch is growing even more twigs than I could imagine as now I am up to 5th cousins!! Plenty to keep me busy.

Well off to finish off the tea and wait for daughter to come home. Will be late tea tonight as she wont be home til 6.30 pm and I am already starving lol

I've been the same as you today, Florence - indoors because of wet and windy weather.
It's still raining slightly, but the wind has dropped.

I'm glad your daughter's foot isn't broken, Joan - but must be very sore.

Good things this week:
One grand-daughter started a new job (after many rejections) as a delivery driver for Amazon. I don't envy her that, and it's still very early days, but so far she's enjoying it - so fingers crossed!
The same grand-daughter, along with friends, moved into a rented house - after sleeping on someone's sofa for some time since her last rental ended.
And the dentist doesn't want to see me for another year! Woo hoo!

Yay :-D :-D :-D what a change in the weather. Little breeze but that keeps the midges away and....the sun has arrived lol

So after we have finished our cleaning chores etc, am off outside for fresh air and to inspect me garden.

Doesn't it just lift you up and make you feel happier when the sun is shining.

Hope everyone else is having a sunny day today.

Good afternoon.
Good to hear you have sunshine today Florence, I hope your plants are still intact.
the sun has shone the whole morning here but is now in & out, there was no wind at all earlier but we have a bit of a breeze just now.

Daughters hubby has taken the weekend off to help out at home, he's taken the youngest child to his swimming class & then did the shopping, he will be taking one of the other children to her netball class tomorrow, he's a good lad & a real help in the home.

I have put together a Vegetable Stir Fry for my meal today, a mix of fresh veg, some Bacon bits & a few slices of new potataoes through it.
Looks lovely & smells delicious.

I hope everyone is having a nice day / weekend.

Joan.

It is much cooler here today thank goodness. It was far too hot on Friday. It was only about 20 degrees today, so it feels much fresher.

My left eye was really stinging yesterday, I thought that suncream might have run into it from my forehead, but by this morning it was very sore and red, so I went to the chemists and saw the pharmacist. He said it looks like a bacterial infection, so I got some antibacterial eye drops. It still feels very sore, so I hope it jmproves tomorrow

Florence61 Report 3 Aug 2024 21:08

Ooh your stir fry sounded tasty Joan, hope you enjoyed that.

Daughter made a pork stir fry with some Miso? sauce Something new i guess.

Oh Linda, thats sounds nasty. Wonder if you got some grit or dust in it? Hope the drops help.

A lovely evening here. My plants are all ok and I can see another flush of bell flowers are coming now. They are a lovely blue/purple colour. Should be a great sunset.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Aug 2024 09:18

Good morning, it is cloudy and drizzling this morning.
My eye isn’t as sore, but it all gummed up. The other eye feels like it has got sand in it as well, so it has spread, probably me rubbing them. I am still putting the eye drops in every couple of hours during the day.
No plans for today, until later in the afternoon. As everything is now more or less in place, I can start cooking for others again, so I am doing Sunday dinner for the family.

Amokavid Report 4 Aug 2024 15:14

Afternoon everyone.
My vegatable Sir Fry was very nice Florence, really tasty.

A nice bright day here today, the sun is in & out & it's a bit breezy but a nice dry day so far. I haven't done much today, just a tidy round, not in the mood for the garden jobs.

Linda, I do hope your sore eyes get better soon, sore eyes are not nice, I suffered with sore eyes when I had the Hay Fever, I would rub them really hard as they itched soo much & they always ended up infected

I hope all is well with others on the thread.

Joan.

Afternoon eberyone from a very unsummery village.

Gosh, such a change after yesterdays lovely sunshine. Its gales here and puring hard. The wind is battering hard!!

I had 2 birthdays coming up, a best friend( shes 60) and my son so i have been busy wrapping everything and parcelling one to go off tomorrow. Daughter will take my gifts over to her brother as well tomorrow, she will be there for a week.

I then did a basket of ironing, some sewing and turned up a pair of trousers with "wonder web". That stuff is so much easier them hemming trousers anyday..

Glad your stir fry was tasty Joan and glad your SIl is able to help out with chores and the kiddies. That will be a great help for your daughter.

Linda, are you sure you are up to making dinner for all with your sore eyes? Sounds like conjunctivitis or pink eye as its called. That is really nasty.

Well I am now sitting as my toes & knees were aching as was standing for far too long. No more chores for me today, Ive done enough.

As for tea, something quick so maybe cheese on toast I think. I don't eat roast dinners except for xmas day!

Hope everyone else looking in is ok today

I always have hay fever Joan, but my eyes have never got infected before. I always put suncream on my face because I have had a couple of little spots frozen off over the years. Not carcinomas, I can’t remember the name, but there is a one in two thousand chance of them turning cancerous if they don’t remove them. I use special Soltan for the face suncream, but I find that if it is very hot and sweaty, it can run down into my eyes and it really stings. It happened last week, so I don’t know if that was the cause.
It is decidedly chilly here this afternoon, OH just went off to put a jumper on.

Morning all.

very blustery day here with showers and of course it was bin day! But they just came and I managed out quick before the shower came and got it back in its place.

I am going to be writing up family tree stuff for the rest of the day as I have quite a bit of info to digest now and sort out. that will keep me busy for sometime. As im home alone, i wont get interrupted.

Linda, hope you eye has improved.

Sylvia, hope the move is going well and hubby is ok

Everyone else looking in, hope you all have a good day :-D

My eye is slowly getting better , thank you Florence. I can tell when it is getting time to put the eye drops in because it feels sore.
It was a nice day today. We got the bus into Harrogate because I wanted to buy some new shorts and OH wanted a few things. I looked in a couple of shops with OH tagging along, then we went to Mountain Warehouse where he bought two pairs of sandals and a pair of trousers. At that point, I asked if he would like to go home while I continued shopping. He was all for that as I was because he doesn’t understand the concept of browsing around. I managed to get a couple of pairs of shorts in Marks and I bought a top in TK Maxx. I still want a particular type of shorts and a new pair of trainers, so I will have another look in a week or so

Morning everyone,

I’m up bright and early for work today and right now it’s dry and a little cloudy but it’s supposed to reach 19 degrees by lunchtime which is when I finish today. I may be off to the hospital later as Mr Owl ended up in the city’s Royal Hospital waiting on an MRI which confirmed what we didn’t want. The nerves in the bottom of his back are trapped again and he had surgery last night as Cauda Equina is classed as serious though not life threatening. Here’s hoping everyone has a good day.

Morning all

Oh dear Tawny, so sorry to hear this about Mr Owl. Here's hoping he will make a good recovery and the operation released the trapped nerves.

Drier day here but very blustery as is the forecast for the whole week with torrential rain tomorrow grrr

I just took delivery of a very large box which said "live plants inside," i was quite excited as thought someone had sent me flowers although, its not my birthday :-S
But when I opened it up, all became clear.....4 new tubs for planting flowers in. The company had used one of their boxes for live plants to send them in!

However, Im glad they arrived so quickly as it originally said 20th August, so turned out well.

Well better get the vacuum cleaner out and have a tidy up as a friend is coming after tea at 7pm for coffee and a catch up which Im looking forward to.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Evening all, Sunny here now and 17 degrees so a pleasant evening. Mr Owl is home now with one disk cut in half and orders not to work for at least six weeks or drive for two. I have two two small furry beasties (cats) still sunning themselves at the moment in the last of the days sun.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Aug 2024 18:57

That is a lovely sunset Florence.
I am so sorry to read about your husband Tawny, I hope he is home soon

It turned into another lovely day here. I was intending to take Eve on a treasure hunt in the town centre at lunch time. The local volunteer run heritage centre has produced one to raise funds. If you complete it and hand it in there is a prize draw. My daughter loves things like that, so she brought Esme for the first forty five minutes, then had to go back to work. Eve and I finished it off, then went for a drink and cake. Tomorrow, I get to take Esme to Lightwater Valley again, I can’t wait :-(

I do admire your stamina and patience, Linda!

Pouring with rain here again. Day after day - so depressing.
Garden plants have been battered flat by yesterday's downpour combined with strong winds.

I don't have a TV picture now either, as the rain water clinging to a tree nearby is interfering with the satellite signal. I'll have to get a tree surgeon to fell or at least reduce the height of the very tall leylandii-type tree.

However, I can watch most things on my tablet in the meantime.

The weather's sure to improve as soon as the schools go back - 20th August in this part of Scotland.

Oh dear, I do seem to be moaning!

Florence61

Florence61 Report 6 Aug 2024 22:20

ArgyllGran, you can moan as being up here in Northern Scotland with rubbish weather, we are entitled to moan lol. It sure bucketed later on and that continued for the rest of the day. had a mini powercut when i was in the loo lol but it came back very quickly.

Another country show tomorrow and the forecast is worse than today grrrr

Yes the poor plants, they dont stand a chance!

Tawny glad your hubby is back home and hope he recovers soon.
