Afternoon all.
Linda, I remember it well when my children were little, Sunday morning never failed as the kids always woke up at 6am and on a school day it was much later lol.
Well I have been a busy bee so resting with me coffee. Tesco came at 11..30, daughter was away out so was on my own and it was a big order. The chappie that delivers is very helpful and helps to take out the items from the crate and put them on my kitchen table. Today there were 4 crates to unpack!!
Anyway, I took my time and gradually got it all put away except the salad container at the bottom of the fridge really needed a clear out.
So I started removing all the veg etc and .....oh my, underneath some potatoes was something slimy and it was all wet! Emptied the whole thing and found 2 mushrooms well past their best.yeeeeuk.
So had to wash that out with soapy water at the sink and its fairly large so quite difficult to hold. Eventually all clean again, I went through the veg, threw out some very old carrots that were also buried at the bottom. Put it all back plus a few new veg and job done.
So everything all in its place and I'm sitting as my paralyzed leg is aching around the hip, not sure why but its kept me awake last 2 nights as couldn't get very comfy.
Anyway, enjoying my coffee and a sit down.
Its raining on and off here today but its so much warmer outside and no wind either.
Hope everyone is having a good day today.

I am pleased that your bp is back to normal Florence. Maybe you have just had a bug. I have felt light headed a few times over the last, few days, but I think it is just the cold.
I had to get up early this morning to drive Eve to school, half an hour each way. Her mum usually does it, she does a circle, dropping Eve off, then Esme, but Esme had an appointment at the doctors surgery this morning, so I took Eve. My daughter was looking forward to a nice sleep in this morning as Esme usually has to be woken up. Of course the little horror was wide awake at 5.45 today

Afternoon peeps
Well its a sunny, breezy day but dry and not too chilly.
We have been spring cleaning the bathroom and also hosing the kitchen and bathroom bins to freshen up.
Internet has been very slow today and i spent ages trying to download mums recent electricity and gas bills so i can see where we are.
My BP was nearly normal today. Anyway i have emailed the chart and I worked out the average which is actually fine. So a bit more relaxed its gone down.
My brother has finished inside the flat and it looks brand new. Covered all cupboards and work surfaces with a nice grey fablo and what a difference. Just the lawn to mow and tidy up the twigs and branches in the garden. So could have the estate agent round next week to photo the rooms and then on the market.
Its exciting in one way but very sad in another as it was mums home for 29 years!
But its costing money keeping it as Im paying all the utility bills and very new the new council tax bill will start mid April.
Hope your rainy day dries out soon Linda. Family tree work is always good on the rainy days. I discovered that my grandmother's mother came from a family of 10 children last night and my father never knew either! I havent planned to do that tree but i have printed out all the censuses back to 1871 so i have loads of info if I decide to do it. I need to crack on with my friends one and get it finished before may when she coming to stay!!
Hope the sun is shining elsewhere and if not Im sending it to where you are :-D

Afternoon everyone Very wild day here and showery as a gale sweeps in so....back to the usual for us.
The town centre(miles away) was flooded early morning as were other parts of the southern isles too. We had alerts on local news yesterday about it. Happens at the Spring Equinox as the tides are very high. I remember once the boats in the harbour were level with top and nearly out of the water as it really was a very high tide.
Joan , glad you had a walk to inspect your daffies etc and good that some survived but still disheartening I know.
Linda, hope you and daughter are feeling a lot better now and Esme is ok.
Rechecked BP today as is down a bit but still high at 149/89. Shall make tomorrow the last reading, then send them to the surgery and see what they say.
Found out my next Echo Cardiogram is in August, so I shall try & wait until them and see if all is ok.
Just some dusting today and 1 load of washing.
More shredding as I cleared out some old utility bills from 3 years ago, so that has refilled the basket.
Light tea tonight as trying to shed 1/2 a stone before 3 April but proving difficult!!

Afternoon all. Another breezy showery day here and quite cold too. BIn lorry just came for recycling bins so I have just been outside to put the bins back. Oh my the wind nearly blew me over, I didn't realise how breezy it was but at least it wasn't raining whilst I put them back!
JustGinnie, what a nuisance for you with the rot/damp problems. At least you can stay put as that would have been a nightmare if you have nowhere else to go. Here's hoping it will get sorted very quickly and all go back to normal.
I have been feeling a bit strange over last few days, lightheaded(not my usual sudden drop in BP) so I started taking my Blood Pressure twice a day. I got a real shock on Monday 11am as my BP was 151/102!! never had it so high.
So I have been doing it twice a day. It has come down a bit to 150/90 but still above normal for me. I tel the surgery and the nurse tel me back. She said record for 7 days and email her the scores and then she will discuss if necessary with the dr.
My next echo is due in August, its been 2 years since the last as the dr was pleased with me.
Starting to worry a bit if my Mitral Valve repair has started to come apart in any way. The thought of going through heart surgery again is enough to put up anyones BP!! This morning it was ok at143/84 pulse 86. My normal reading is around 140/80 Pulse around 90(always high).
Anyway, trying not to worry and keeping busy.
Making a chicken dish with savoury rice for tonight and naan bread for daughter and myself and looking forward to that.
Hope everyone else is well and ok

It is times like this Ginnie that you discover just how much stuff you have been hoard and don’t actually need. Before my daughter and the girls moved in “for a few months”, I got rid of lots of stuff to free up space for them. Even so I kept lots, but a year and a half later, I haven’t touched most of it. So when they do eventually move out, I am going to have a ruthless clear out to make things easier when we do decide to down size

Linda, that does sound awful, I know there are different types of rot and one is treated with a chemical. I am glad we didn't have to move as we would have nowhere to go .
It's amazing how much stuff we have and when we need to have work done can't find anywhere to put it all. I have sorted through all the books, dvds and cds and quite a bit is going to the charity shop.
Today is dry so far but there are some dark clouds but hopefully the rain will stay away . Have a good day everyone..

Oh dear Ginnie, you have my sympathy as I have been in a similar position. It was a very long time ago, just after we had moved house. The survey had shown a little bit if damp in the brickwork of the front wall. The wall seemed fine to us, but the floor under the carpet in that area seemed damp, so a few months after we moved in, we had a specialist company come to check it out. They couldn’t find any damp in the bricks, but did discover some sort of damp rot in the floor boards and joists. We had to have part of the joists in the hall repaired and new floor boards in the hallway and part of the lounge. They also had to treat the whole of the downstairs and the actual stairs with a dreadful chemical spray. They said that we could stay, but the smell was horrific, so we stayed with my parents for a week. We claimed on the original surveyors insurance as such a serious problem shoukd have been picked up in the type of survey we had paid for.

Hello everyone, Hope you all had a good mothers day and Joan and OH belated anniversary wishes to you.
We have had a nightmare couple of weeks , started off just wanting to decorate the living room but found damp where a fitted cupboard was, that got sorted but when the plaster and skirting was removed they found rot and we ended up having to have new floor joists, floor boards and skirting so what started as a weekend job is still on going. We will get there I know and it's good we found the problems if we hadn't it could have been much worse as 2 joists had rotted through completely. We found a great builder who did the floor and checked everything out so should be ok (fingers crossed) now.
It's been raining on and off everyday and fed up with washing drying inside . Moan over now. Got to decide what to do for our meal now. lol
Take care all.

It wasn’t my birthday Florence, Esme wanted me to have a balloon for Mothers ( grandmothers) day.
I have been lazy today because I don’t feel well, Esme was fine at school thank goodness, but she was tired when she got back from school, so she is having a rest before dinner. I am making cheesy Bolognaise gnocchi bake with green beans. It is very nice, but the gnocchi is not good for my diet, I put a pound on this week, that will teach me to eat the cakes the girls made at the weekend :-(

Yes I am fine Florence thank. It was dry here this morning so I caught the bus to Cheltenham and had a look round the shops. As I got home about 1 pm it started to rain and has not stopped since. And it is so dark, although not cold.
Sorry you feel poorly Linda hope you all feel better soon.

Afternoon all I had a lovely mothers day yesterday with a bespoke bouquet of flowers and some gifts too plus lovely cards. Whilst i took a mid morning shower, daughter prepared a wonderful buffet lunch. i couldnt believe my eyes once i had dressed and dried my hair. Was wonderful <3
Linda, was it your birthday as well? I so hope you and your daughter are feeling better today. i have heard there is a lot with bad colds just now doing its rounds.
Also all the local hospitals here have restricted visiting due to an increased number of Covid cases which are on several wards. only essential visiting once a day until the cases ease! Bit worrying really, couldnt bear to think of going back to a lockdown again eeek!!!
Hope Joan, AnnG, JG are all well and anyone else looking in.
Miserable rainy day here and cold too so heating going on very soon.
Just a catch up day and paperwork, finalising a Tesco order for the 24th in prep for my visitors :-D :-D
I shall look in later on

LOL Ann, I think I shoukd start calling her Esmeralda.
I don’t feel very well today, neither does my daughter, we both have a cold and a bad headache. Esme has a runny nose as well, but she has gone to school, so hopefully she will be OK.
It was Mother’s Day yesterday of course, so we had a nice day. I had bought presents and cards for the girls to give to their mum. In turn, I got a voucher for Sunday lunch in a very nice hotel not far away, so OH is looking forward to that as well. I also got a large bunch of flowers and a helium balloon. Esme seems to think that everyone needs a helium balloon on their birthday. Mind was a tasteful one with flowers on it, but she chose a Spider-Man one for OH when it was his birthday :-D

Happy 56th Wedding Anniversary Joan. Congrats to you and hubby. Hope the cake turned out well and you have a lovely day <3
Well its back to the norm here as it hosing down with rain but the ground is so dry and my plants needed a good soak.
Spent most of the morning paying bills that are due in a few days. groan....more pennies disappearing from bank account!
New council tax bill arrived starts on 1st April, not too bad as less than £10 rise per month but rent increase is around £36 up per month.
I can still manage and there are a lot more worse off than me so musn't grumble.
Just usual chores today, nothing exciting in the post either!
Linda, when my daughter was 5, she complained of a sore tummy but wasn't actually sick. Was only after numerous blood tests, GP visits etc and she lost a stone in weight, she got an ultra sound and it did it show something far worse! But as Esme gets a scan regularly, at least you have peace of mind its nothing too serious.
Hope everyone else looking in is well and warm
