Names thankyou so much for this as it may be a solution to date the boiler. I have asked my brother to go and look at the boiler and screenshot it for me. Very helpful of you :-D :-D

Afternoon all

Another grey day here but we had the two Great granddaughters this morning so they kept us occupied. Ages 7 and 2.
And daughter had to stay in for the smart meter man to come. They had new smart meters in April and since then the gas one has not worked properly. Daughter has phoned regularly each time to a we will get back to you reply. Needless to say they never did. In the end she complained to Offgem (I think). About two weeks ago and the man came this morning. He thinks he has fixed it apparently it was not installed correctly. So we will wait and see if it is OK now.

Sorry your cold is worse Linda but pleased yours is better Florence.
And good that your OH is progressing Ginnie.

Filling all those forms in is a real nuisance Florence. As I have done it once, hopefully it will be easier the next time around. Having said that neither of the people who vowed last week want it, so we won’t be moving anytime soon.

It has never stopped raining all day, so you won’t want our weather Ginnie. It is good to hear that your husband is doing so well.

We just did our Covid tests for the ONS survey we are part of. Both were negative, so I just have some other sort of horrible bug. I can’t stop coughing and my nose is very runny. I am tired because I haven’t slept well.

Afternoon everyone looking in.

JustGinnie, glad your OH is progressing well now. Sorry but our usual weather has returned grrr, Had 2 days of calm and now up at gale force and cold too. If we should find where the sun has gone I will let you know ;-)

Oh dear Linda, sorry to hear you are now not well. It's miserable isnt it. I am now over my sore head and my glands seemed to have gone down too which is good. I also slept better last night and was only up at 3, then slept til 8am.

Glad your daughter got a refund on the missing gift cards. So much goes missing over xmas, you wonder where it does go to!!

Joan , if you are looking in, hope all is well with you & hubby as haven't seen you about for a few days. Hope you have power.

AnninGloucs, hope you are enjoying your break away with your family.

Argyllgran hope its not too wild with you but I'm guessing you have the same wild winds as we do further up.

I have been busy yesterday and today completing all the sols form I received, pages of them. Had to make some phone calls to get info too which took ages as keep getting cut off???

Spent an hour in the queue for Br Gas, got through, got transferred, explained my query and then it disconnected grrrr I tel back and same thing happened so annoying as this is the last thing I need to sort before sending the whole lot back in the post. The sooner it's sent the sooner we get it sold.

Buyers want to know when the boiler was purchased and when was it last serviced??? mum had a care plan and it was serviced every year up to Jan 2022 but I have no evidence of that. But I found a Ref number on her list of d/ds so hoping they can still access the care plan even though we cancelled it last year?

If we can't, the buyers may insist on us either buying a new boiler eeeeek, or getting a full service. So there is an urgency to speak to Br gas about it. I shall wait until after 2pm and try once again.

Another public holiday here, so no post or anything moving. Roads are very quiet as children not back until Thursday.

I have plenty to keep me busy as my ironing box is overflowing, all the decs need to come down before Friday plus the house needs a good dusting. Oh well no rest for the wicked. So better crack on.

Stay warm all

LindainHerriotCountry Report 2 Jan 2024 09:53

Well, not a good start to the year health wise as I have caught Eve’s cold . Our second New Year at the real midnight was fine, I went to bed after the fireworks, leaving them to watch the last twenty minutes of a film we had been watching before midnight.
Yesterday OH and I went into Harrogate with my daughter and Esme to go to Claire’s Accesories shop to by a couple of gift vouchers. My daughter had bought them online before Xmas for her cousins girls. They were supposed to be delivered direct to them by the useless Evri company. Not surprisingly they had lost them, so my daughter got her money back. She bought some in person which she will send direct. Esme was absolutely amazed that there were so few people out and about in the town. New Year sales don’t seem to have hit Harrogate yet. We found a lovely cafe which we hadn’t tried before for lunch .
We came home in the afternoon and by last night, my cold was even worse. I feel like I have been kicked in the ribs by all the coughing. I hope you are feeling better Florence.

Well it might only be 8.20, but we have just had a full on New Year celebration using the London fireworks from last year. Esme has made us all come up to bed. As soon as she is safely tucked up, we can sneak back downstairs and do it all again at midnight :-D

I hope that everyone will have a good year, leaving all our problems behind us. <3 <3 <3

Well chit chatters, 2024 is nearly here. So whatever you are all doing to celebrate, just take care and look after yourselves if you are out & about.

My migraine has finally begun to ease and my neck is less sore so thank goodness for that. My temp is down now too at 37.5 so slowly getting back to normal!

I may stay up to watch the fireworks from around the world on the BBC news but shall go off to bed afterwards.

Hope Joan all is well with hubby and you got to see him today.

Linda hope you enjoy the family gathering with your daughter etc.

AnninGloucs not sure if you are home yet but hope you too enjoy your evening.

JustGinnie, good wishes to you & hubby and hope all is progressing well.

ArgyllGran our wind has gone right down so flat calm but very cold here. Hope you have a good evening too.

And to anyone else looking in tonight, have a good one and we shall be here tomorrow to hear about all your celebrations.

I don’t think that it has stopped raining all day here. Not torrential, just a steady drizzle, it is very cold as well. I haven’t been out all day. I have been working on the top of my family tree and have managed to add another generation. Tonight I looked at the results for the Ancestry thru lines, where the DNA shows definite matches and realised that there is quite a lot I can safely add in lower down the tree. I haven’t done much in the last couple of years when the girls where living here, but now, there are a lot of good DNA matches to catch up on. That should keep me busy during the winter.

Quite a bit of Covid around too, although if people don’t test they will just class it as cold or flu.

Sorry you fel rough Florence hope you feel better soon.

We had the gale and heavy sleet earlier in the day, Florence, but now it's calm and wet - and actually not raining at this moment. I've just poked my head out to check!

I hope your power stays on, and that your bug clears soon.
There seem to be a lot of cold, cough, and fluey type bugs around at the moment.

I'm a big fan of internal pockets, too.

Zipped pockets are the ideal, but any internal pocket is better than none.
I try to only buy coats/jackets which have them, but if they don't , I add a simple patch pocket, and occasionally I've added a zip to that.

I had a waterproof coat which had a zipped internal pocket - away down below hip level; most inconvenient. However, I was able to relocate it higher up, which was much more useful for credit card and keys when out shopping.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Dec 2023 12:40

That sounds interesting Linda, having a pocket added. In the summer I use a ‘bum’ bag rather than a handbag. It sits on my waist in front of me and I always hold it over the top to protest the zips from wandering hands but it doesn’t feel as safe as a zipped pocket. I do have a billet with a zipped breast pocket though that I use.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Dec 2023 11:41

I remember the old GR parties as well Ann, they were fun. We are going to our daughters tomorrow afternoon and will stay overnight to see the New Year in, so I won’t be around much.

I like coats with internal pockets so I can carry my phone, a small purse and my keys. That way I don’t need to take a handbag. As I tend to do a lot of walking around rather than using the car, I had a a waxed cotton Barbour jacket with lots of internal “poachers” pockets, I could stash lots of things inside. When I lost all my weight, it was far too big, so I went to the Barbour factory shop which isn’t too far away. They didn’t have a suitable waxed one, so I bought a smarter padded cloth one which is still very waterproof. It just had two small external pockets on the side at hip level , ok for hankies and gloves but nothing else. . It had a small zipped internal pocket at breast level running along the line of the main zip. That was ideal for my phone and I could get to it easily by just pulling the main zip down a little way. There was no where for my keys and small purse, so I took the coat to a local tailors and they put another internal pocket in for me. It is just below the bust line, but well above the waist. Even though the coat is quite fitted , nothing shows and everything is safely tucked away inside , so I don’t need a bag.
