I agree Ann hence the reason why as Boris said they are considering relaxing the restrictions now cos come the winter it could be deja vu :-(

**Ann**

**Ann** Report 5 Jul 2021 19:51

But wasn’t that what the advisors said Fly….once the vulnerable are vaccinated life will be near normal….I would presume they were all vaccinated by March…and they are still suffering tight restrictions :-( :-(

it's the younger ones that are getting the new variant here

**Ann**

**Ann** Report 5 Jul 2021 19:48

I don’t think that is the only consideration Belle….they have to get this country moving again.

More people are dying of undiagnosed illnesses…not being able to see their GP face to face…mental illnesses are soaring etc etc.

Do you think because the older ones have had their jabs the younger ones thought they were safe to mingle :-|

Vaccinations help the body to recognise the virus and get antibodies that know how to attack that virus so it attacks it faster and with the knowledge of how to attack it. The virus is therefore far less effective it would far more virulent if the person hadn't been vaccinated.

Better it happens now rather than the winter, Joy :-)

The trouble is that the more people who catch it the more will end up in hospital.

Then the hospitals put all the other things on hold. It’s started already in some places :-(

This one’s done us proud, Ann. It is more than 17 years old now.

The only reason why they are even considering relaxing the restrictions is because of the vaccination programme, Ann. People can get Covid even if they have been vaccinated just like the flu but it is milder and survivable..... before vaccination sadly that wasn't the case :-(

**Ann** Report 5 Jul 2021 19:42

Gawd, guy on news says we have a covid rate ten times higher than the national average in our city. :-0

**Ann** Report 5 Jul 2021 19:40

See that’s the bit I don’t get Pat……you can still pass the virus on and still contract it. The benefits of the vaccine are hopefully to stop you being hospitalized should you be unlucky enough to contract it :-(
