You need to import the file into a family tree program to view it properly. If you use Notepad, it will be readable as thousands of lines of text, but not easy to understand as a family tree.

I want to export my family tree.
Did what I thought was right, went to look at it and there is nothing there, just a 72k file with nothing in it.
How do I do this?
