I am so glad that your OH is able to move so quickly to be near you, so you will be able to see him easily.
I hope you have settled into your own unit well and that it will be easier for you to look after than the house was.
It is good to see you back on the boards. <3 <3

Thank you all <3 <3 <3 <3

Yes, Andysmum, Shirley's husband had Lewy's, that's how I know about it. I just wonder why the hospital didn't tell us the diagnosis, as it is I got it third hand!

Good luck with everything tomorrow, Sylvia. I seem to remember that Shirley's OH had Lewy's, because I had never heard of it back then and googled to find out what it was.

We visited my sister in Vancouver back in the 80's and we were astonished at the apparant lack of building regulations. There was a house nearby which had originally been in a large garden, but the new owners had demolished it and built a new one that completely filled the space, leaving just enough room for a path up the side!!

Such a lot to cope with for all the family and I'm sorry that someone's horrible random actions have forced all this on you all.

I hope OH's move on Thursday goes smoothly and you can settle to enjoying some calmer days together.

You're in our thoughts, Sylvia.

It's amazing how much you have managed to organise and put in place in only two months.

......... why I have been posting much less often on here and what I have been going through for the last 2+ months. and have helped me through the chaos with their support.

Now it's time for me to let more people know.

My husband was randomly attacked on a local street on June 24th by a man who ran across the road and pushed OH in the back so that he fell to the ground. He was helped up and to home by 2 good Samaritans who stopped their cars but we then took him to the Emergency Dept at the local hospital. The man has been caught, kept in gaol and is being prosecuted, so that is the good news.

OH suffered a broken left elbow, bruised ribs and various grazes and scratches all down his left side, but the worst was a bump to his left forehead that caused a mild concussion.

He had been suffering from forgetfulness and some cognitive problems beginning about 5 or 6 years ago, but the concussion worsened those problems. He ended up spending about 7 weeks in the hospital, with the last 3½ weeks on the secure Dementia Diagnosis ward.

Meanwhile, my daughter and I had realised that I would be unable to take care of him in the house, so we began to look for Assisted Living, something I had been suggesting for about 5 years. At first it was for both of us, and we found a lovely suite, 1 large bedroom and large living/dining room with a kitchenette and a huge bathroom, all wheelchair accessible if necessary. Then it became obvious that OH would need more care than offered in this building, and would need what they called Multi-Level Care. We put his name on that list and proceeded with sorting out the house, etc. We used a company called Out of Chaos which comes in, helps you decide what you do and do not need, packs it up, arranges a moving company etc etc They were great, and daughter and I could concentrate on hospital visits to OH.

We found another place that would take OH on a short term basis, and give him the care he needed while we waited for a space to become available here.

He was moved from the hospital to that place on August 6th, and I moved into the suite on August 8. It has been a bit of a hard time since then but today he was accepted into the MLC unit here, and we hope to move him on Thursday.

He has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, but is still mobile, able to take care of himself with some assistance, but we know what the future will be like, luckily the unit cares for patients right through to End of Life.

The house was put up for sale yesterday, and the realtor is asking for offers to buy on Thursday! We know that it will almost certainly be bought by someone who will demolish it and build 2 houses side-by-side in its place. A pity, but that is life over here.

Now I hope to have more time to participate on the Boards as I have in the past.
