It's that time of year again, when many places not normally open to the public allow access, usually FREE.
Other places might offer guided walks or talks.

I went into the Sallyport of Knaresborough castle today. It was very interesting, but quite difficult walk down the tunnel. Amazing that they cut such a large passage through solid rock in the thirteenth century

Linda, That does sound interesting.
Incredible that they could do that by hand.
We are hoping to go to a local event over the weekend. Will post here if we do.

Disappointed - went to an open event at our local city and it was closed. I thought I'd made a mistake with the date but checked when we got back and it's definitely today. I found on the organisation's own website that yes, it had been cancelled, but most people will look at the Heritage events website.

Daughter and I travelled to visit The Gurkha Museum on the edge of what was once a huge military camp at Shorncliffe near Folkestone. We thought there was going to be a walk too organised by Shorncliffe Trust to see places connected with the 1st World War but they couldn't get enough people to staff that too. The museum was very interesting and there were plenty of people to answer questions we might have.

I was busy all day yesterday, so no chance to fit in a vist anywhere.
