FMP isn't as user friendly as it was!

Wasn't it just!

Took me ages to find my way to newspapers instead of just the bmd notices.

Thanks greyghost, exactly what I was looking for :-D

I knew it was FMP but it used to be more straightforward.

Click Search and ignore the All Categories Newspaper & Publications - it really only takes you to BMD notices.

Instead go a bit further down the page under the header Travel & Migration. There's a box where it says 'See if there's more to the story in our newspaper archives" Then hit the Search newspapers in the same box

****New page opens. Fiil in a relevant word under name or Keywords and press search OR click on Advanced search.

OR Click on Newspapers at top of page and get to the point *** above and go from there.

You'll get another new page where you can fill in lots of boxes along the lines you're talking about.

Hope that helps - it's more long winded than it used to be!

Thanks but I've never used the BNA.
I'll take a look though.

I think you are thinking of the actual British Newspaper Archive.

Is it my imagination or could newspapers previously be searched by area, title and years narrowed down?
It's very hard work now and throws up places not in the search criteria
