We did indeed to to the Heath. Island. There was a big report in the local rag.

The kids had a great time climbing over one of the trees that had been blown over. :-0 :-0

Ive got photos somewhere too, I had forgotton about them.

Went out to watch!!!!!!

I saw the local tractor go past clearing the road so followed it to grab my son out of school and was able to tell them a large tree had blocked a lot of parents in.

Then home and probably cowering on the floor ( too many large lanes of glass) annd worrying about other half who walked through woods to get home.

:-0 I didn't know there was thunder and lightning! just a big blow I thought :-S

Mtg, did you go for a look at Hampstead Heath? We did - lorks! I must dig out the photos, see if I can do anything arty with them :-D

We left East Kent the year before so were worried about our old haunts, but as I said never really found out exactly whathad happened.

We were not living partivualr;y remotley but we were rural with only half a dozen close neighbours. So wern't condsidered a prioty and were left to last ( overhead cables). Same thing happened with the next one, after that heavy duty cables were put in.

A wind gust would always cut off the power, usually for a couple of hours. So we well prepared with candles, water and a mini camping gas stove. Baked beans cooked on the open fire every night. At some stange we had migrated from a parrafin heater to a calor gas one, but am not sure when. So pleased we were able to move away.

I was stuck at a friends house for 3 days as the country lane was blocked by trees. No power for 2 weeks in that area of Sussex.

Finally got back to my mothers 8 miles away 3 days later. Mum had slept through it all and was totally unaware of all the fuss.
I was staying in a house 300 years old and I felt it shaking and creaking with every thunder and lightening flash. The sound of branches being ripped off trees was frightening and in the morning, the lawn had become a forest with all the branches that came off the trees!

Yep that's one night i shall never forget!

Ah yes the Storm.

Our young kids got out of their beds with fright, and got into ours!

OH stuck it for about half hour, and then went and got into one of their empty beds and went back to sleep. :-0 :-D

Their school was closed, but that was about it.

I hope they sort out the glitch soon.
Many people will be checking their forecast wondering if we will be affected by the after effects of America's weather.
.........and it will soon be the anniversary of the famous Michael Fish event.

Were you in a remote area of the south east?
I know we lost power, but not for very long. A ship ran aground in Folkestone, so the wind was quite strong.

We got a message from our son this morning. Assumed we were on the eye of the storm ;-) ;-)

We won’t forget the ‘ Michael fish’ non storm. We never really found out what had happened nationally as we had no power ( or heat) for days.

I slept through it Florence but was awakened early by my mother on the phone full of 'what ifs' and having visions of me wandering corridors in the dark. She was such a drama queen! :-(

:-D :-D :-D :-D I heard about this earlier on the radio. Apparently there was glitch with the computer system! Of course, blame the PC but its the humans that imput the data isnt it?

My god if that forecast was to be believed, we would be in terrible trouble me thinks! :-D :-D :-D
