Hello to all.

My daughter took me out yesterday to do my weekly grocery shop & as usual I purchased a couple of £3 scratch cards.
Yesterday however I wanted to purchase some extra ones for my nearby grandchildren, popping them in with their Christmas cards as I usually do, what a shock I got when told I dould only purchase upto £10 worth od scratchcards at any one time !

It's the first time I had heard of this, & as I was needing 9 x £1 cards as well as my own 2 £3 ones it was an issue, in the end my daughter stepped in & prchased the extra ones so that I didn't have to go to another outlet !

Apparently it's now Lottery policy that one can only puchase upto £10 worth of cards now ! seems a bit silly to me as people will just go round the various outlets to buy more, in the smae way as those who want to buy more than 2 pckets of painkillers at any one time !

Yes Joan, new rules to help people control their gambling habits came out recently.

I'm having a big buffet day after boxing day for 8 people and i also buy a card for each person as a wee extra. So my daughter bought some in one shop and some in another.

But yes, you are correct as nothing to stop a person going to 3 or 4 other shops and get more!

Hope you got lucky!

Well as you have both just proved. Just something that has got caught up in the wider drive to try and stop gambling addiction.

Yes Florence, I won £20.

The scratchcards are my only vice, I don't drink. or smoke, or eat out, I don't go to the hairdresser or use make-up, & only buy clothes when absolutely neccessary !!
I think I am entirled to a few minutes "fun" scratching offf 2 cards each week.

LImiting a purchase of the said cards ts NOT going to stop a person who has a serious gambling problem !! IMO.

Oh well done Joan!

I don't drink or smoke either and just buy them every now & then and sometimes get lucky lol

Stockpiling painkillers as well proves a loophole in the law although it was set with good intentions. In the bigger cities, one would have many outlets to buy either scratch cards or painkillers whereas in the rural areas like here, there are less places to buy from!
