They have my sympathies also.. But when you consider that previously, any rainfall was soaked into the natural water courses, and that now-adays any land available is built upon......no wonder we have flood situations. All these super sheds,Warehouses etc..with vast expanse of roofing, all that rainfall HAS to go somewhere, and is mainly channeled in the nearest river. Roads, carparks, patio's, driveways, once all natural soakaways, Just consider the amount of hardstandings diverting water, what more can be expected.....but flooding..after Man has shored up the natural flood plains and built upon them....... its not ALL to do with Global warming...... Rant over, Bob

Along with so many people throughout the world, I was saddened to hear about the floods devastating Yorkshire and other parts of the UK. I have recently found out that my grandmother's family originated from Sheffield, and I send special sympathy to you all for what you are suffering. My family names are, Arnold,Brodigan,Wood,Ledger,Rhodes,Henderson,Reaney,Evans,Bowler,Wild and Oates. Many of them came from Ecclesall Bierlow. I have never been to the north of England, and in fact, I do not live in the UK. From my research, I understand its a beautiful part of the world, and I hope you will all be able to resume your lives very soon. Be assured that people all over the world are thinking of you and praying for you, David
