Hi Carol, I too remember the Pepsodent ad but what about, 'The Esso sign means happy motoring, Esso sign means happy motoring, Call at the Esso sign'. The writers put a lot of thought into that one.lol.

Something about 'when the peas go pop' and a little boy popping his mouth with his finger - I think it was Birds Eye. Blimey I'll be trying to remember that properly all afternoon now - DOH

A couple spring to mind: 'Sorry mate, your too late, the best peas went to Farrows' Also something about ' I drink Idris when Im dry.........' I used to be quite scared about what must have been a toothpaste ad where little men came out at night in your mouth and used to attack your teeth with pick axes! Susan

Gwynne, great minds think alike I was going to suggest the pepsodent one, can hear the tune going round in my head now as well as the esso blue one. How about Desmond Carrington trying to swop a washing powder (Tide?) Fairy liquid of course but that continued for quite a few years. Camay Ann Glos

I'll have a think. This was one of the earlier ones. . You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent. I'll see if I can recall earlier ones but with no TV as a young child and infrequent trips to the cinema, this might be as early as I can remember. Gwyn

Catherine from Manchester

Catherine from Manchester Report 16 Oct 2006 13:07

I seem to remeber the govt ads more one was about road safety and meeting strangers it featured a boy and his cat charlie, and it use to always go 'charlie says' and it would end up with the lad throwing a fish to the cat and it landed on his nose and the cat wolfed it down and was left with a fish bone on his nose. Another one was for swimming and safety 'Meet Mike he swims like a fish' and Mike woud go 'hi' in an aussie accent. It would show some pathetic cartoon bloke drowning in the background. Then there was one trying to get us to eat more cheese, and it featured a kid in the supermarket with the mum at the counter and the kid saying 'don't cheat on the cheese mum 'Think every kid in the 70's was going round the shops with their mother saying it.pmsl. Think these wer 70's ads. catherine xx
