There's a place in Massachusetts called Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg Which translates from Native American to English as 'You fish on your side, I fish on my side, nobody fish in the middle.'

On the drive from Dundee to St Andrews in Fife you go through a little village called Pickettillum. I was born in a village called Crookedholm which is in Ayrshire. Raven

Joe's mention of a certain place in South Yorks reminded me of an amusing sight last year In a field near the A616/A628 junction (the Flouch, if anyone knows it) there was a very large sign advertising the Penistone Show. Trouble is, when you approached the roundabout from the Manchester side, the roadsign obliterated part of the sign advertising the show. Guess what the result was... P****...... Show. I notice they haven't used that sign again this year LOL

A lot of my ancestors, including my maternal grandmother were born in Church - a village near Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire. Apparently Grandma Walmsley used to love telling people she was born in Church! Liz
