Steve, Yes you are right. So I will stand up and be the bigger person and not be provoked by this person anymore. As I said earlier Jess we will never agree on some topics so let's keep a wide berth of each other in the future? Simple.

Sooooooooo why did a thread about SNOW get deleted?

Janet in Yorkshire

Janet in Yorkshire Report 13 Mar 2006 15:21

I didn't see the post - what SORT of snow was being discussed? Was it frozen rain or the dry powdery stuff? I can see why refs to the latter should be deleted, but the first kind, how can that be offensive? Jay

Kate, it may well have been complained about by someone with Chionophobia (fear of snow). BC

I've said it once today so I'll say it again on this one if any thread is reported to genes they do check that said thread if the thread oversteps the T&C or the Guidelines then that thread will be deleted if they believe the thread is fine and NOT cross the line it will remain on the boards Paul

Kate, I think it's 6 of 1 and half-a-dozen of the other. Some threads are deleted due to their content. As an example, I can think of one that lots of people found very offensive a few months ago, and the member who posted it did so in the full knowledge that he was likely to be thrown off the site for posting it - he said so on the thread. It was full of thinly disguised strong swear words, so was probably offensive to a lot of people. I can understand why that would have been deleted, although I didn't complain about it myself. If I start to read something I find offensive, I don't read further. I don't generally feel that strongly about threads unless they get personally abusive. Yes, some people post provocatively to incite arguments, and there are several people who attract adverse reactions from other members. I've been in the latter category for a long time. That doesn't trouble me. I don't go looking for trouble, but if it's thrown at me and the issue is something I care about, I'll give as good as I get. Usually it isn't, it's just someone trying to amuse themselves by annoying another site member, so I'll play the spoilsport and leave them to enjoy their games with someone else. One thing I wouldn't do is complain to GR in order to get someone I don't care for into trouble. I'm not that petty. CB >|<

BC lol This site can make me so cross at times (as you've probably gathered).

Unknown Report 13 Mar 2006 15:31

Okay Paul, If your theory is correct then how can they find a thread about snow offensive?

Paul (Tigger)

Paul (Tigger) Report 13 Mar 2006 15:35

they will only delete a thread if the content of that threads crosses the line if the content of a thread has the odd post then those posts will be removed not the thread . You cannot have a thread deleted just because you dont like the originator of that thread . Paul

Unknown Report 13 Mar 2006 15:39

As I said earlier Paul you could make up any old excuse to GR and get a thread removed. And I am not convinced that GR reads the whole thread if they get a complant.

Paul (Tigger)

Paul (Tigger) Report 13 Mar 2006 15:43

Kate You cannot just make up an excuse to have a thread deleted GR look at the thread that has been reported IF it is worthy of deletion ie broke the rules they WILL delete IF the reported thread has NOT broke the rules they WIL NOT delete it Paul

Yes agree with Paul if you just said can you delete that thread they have to investigate it because otherwise the member could say he or she are being harrassed! Davex
