I studied Shakespeare at school for O level and hated it. then too A level Lit as an adult at evening classes and found I really enjoyed both Shakespeare and Chaucer. I think both are too adult for children. Ann glos |

Maz, I think the teacher has an awful lot to do with it, if the teacher liked the book then it came to life. I hated Shakespeare at school but have seen some on stage since and quite enjoyed it Dee x |

funny isn't it! I love Far From the Madding Crowd - first read at school, and WW1 poetry, but hated David Copperfield and Emma. Maybe it depends on the teacher you had at the time?? Maz. XX |

Hi all Am halfway through TTW and am enjoying it very much, have my copy of CR ready (my library was very quick in getting them for me). I'm the opposite Maz, like Dee says I see the stuff we did at school in a different light now even the metaphysical poets which I hated at the time! Happy reading Kaz :o)) |

Maz, it's often the way with things we studied at school isn't it, we get totally sick and tired of them. Suppose sometimes we can see them in a different light when we are older, but it doesn't always happen that way Dee x |

I have always liked poetry even when i was at school, and loved reading Now we are six to my kids. Now i have now we are 60 and Now we are 60 and a bit, all good fun to read. I like Keats and Wordworth. I also like Rod Mckuen, but I will read any poetry. i do prefer it if it rhymes though. Ann Glos |

Got Hard Times and Rachel from the library today - I was really surprised that Hard Times is quite a slim volume - thought it was going to be brick sized! Have finally started the Linnet Bird, so may actually do December's review soon lol!! Also picked up 2 poetry anthologies for feb ........ !!! Maz. XX |
