Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 1 Aug 2007 09:25

I have a quite few called Medora on one side - it is from a poem by Lord Byron. One 3 x gt grandfather's first name is Northfield - his mother's maiden name. I have the partner to Jax's Sir! my 4 x gt grandmother was baptised Madame Sophia Phillippini Elisabeth Haylock :-) she married under this name too, but was buried as plain Sophia! On the outside of her marriage licence is written 'Lady Haylock' so I think someone got confused about her too! I have not been able to find out why she had this name - her family were (as far as I know) ag labs from rural Essex. Her sister was Maria Constantia, but the boys all had just one name. I would love to know why the girls' names were so grand! Maz. XX

Sir, he was down as his middle names on all the census as they seemed to think it was a title not a name.
