1.45 Listen With Mother - Yes - and when the King died they cancelled it and I was in tears!

It was followed at 2 o'clock with Womans Hour, then I had to keep quiet so my mother could hear it. Jx

Hi C on the C: I agree about Classic FM and adverts - dreadful - I quite often listen to local BBC radio as one based about 10 miles from me and quite informative. Jx

Perhaps we should start a Radio thread: Have a Go with Wilfred Pickles & wife Mable with Violet Carson as pianist. On Saturday evening In Town Tonight (Knightsbridge March was signature tune) followed by Saturday Night Theatre. Good classics and Sherlock Holmes in weekly instalments. Round the Horne, Navy Lark, The Glums - perhaps I'd better stop. Jx

Yes Christine, Googie Withers was the head of the prison.

I love a good tear jerker. Enjoy the older ones more than modern films. I remember as a teenager watching Bette Davis in Old Maid - think that was one of my first tear jerkers

It was about a Womens Prison. Googie Withers was the Boss. As a child I wanted to be Prison Warden after watching this programme....I grew up and saw sence!

Oh yes I remember Rosemary's baby, ahhh they don't make em like that any more.

I like the early James Cagney, films - especially Angels with dirty faces, and was it called white heat - where he shouts 'top of the world ma' at the end

I also like the early James Stewart films, also enjoy some of the old Will Hey films, and one of my fav. xmas films is scrooge with Alastair Sim
