You're probably right, Steve. My favourites are the Pre-Raphaelites and they got a bad press in their day.

Gwynne

i dont disagree with you as i never liked pop art or that movement

but will say as the word moves along art will always move with it and who is to say in a hundred years digital art from 2007 wont be classed as classic art lol

STEVE CAN YOU EXPLAIN TAB &PEN

Peipal

Peipal Report 18 Jan 2008 17:31

Ann ahhhhh then your taking that moment in time and making it into something your mind sees as perfect or how you wished it has looked at the time

thats photo manipulation not art

but many modern artists use cameras to capture moments in time

then use that visual aid to inspire a painting

Gwynne
some of us are unable to paint or draw but with the aid of a pc
can still enjoy art

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 18 Jan 2008 17:27

I know it an take ages, Steve, I've been red-eyed with effort on occasion but without brush strokes it has no soul for me.

It's illustration - not Art.

But different strokes, as they say.

if anyone wants to see a fantastic collection of impressionist paintings we have a superb collection in the National Museum of Wales in the civic centre of Cardiff and I am ashamed to say I had no idea they were there until we had American visitors who asked to be taken there to look at them - what a surprise we had.

Peipal

Peipal Report 18 Jan 2008 17:20

Gwynne
I can do all three paint, draw on paper or cavas or use a pen and tab on here

and it can take me as long to paint with a pen an tab as it would a canvas

Art is all about being creative to my mind, no matter what medium you use

but like i said art is different to everyone which is great

AnninGlos Report 18 Jan 2008 17:16

yes, I understand that Steve. Then, if I take that photo and alter it on the computer to how I wished I had seen it. what then?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Jan 2008 17:15

Daughter in laws reply re the computer art

I think you can make art on a pc… it’s the artist intention, idea and execution that I think is important rather than the medium…..

ow brain ache!

Ann

I bet you view a shoot through the view finder the same way an artist looks at a view

so to that end if both of us stood side by side
looking at a view you take a photo and capture the exact moment in time, the colours the light ect

but i would remember it differently later so would paint it as i rememberd it

so one moment caught in time verses memory

both the same yet different

if you catch my drift
