Firstly demand to see a Senior Officer,I assume that the person who searched you was female, If not they,re in trouble,then complain about being unlawfully detained and searched in such a Public Manner.**M**.

Dark haired! Did they stop and search all the dark haired people that left Woolworths then? Not much to go on is it. if it had been two young women with a child I could have partly understood it.

thats what I meant Bob, followed on camera from the moment they stepped out of Woolies and tracked all the way to the bank. The UK is one of most 'spied on' countries in the world apart from where i live as they turn the CCTV off at night! lol

I hope that at the very least you get an apology. I should stress the public humiliation aspect tot he police. You say that the only similarity is hair colour. how do you know this? I would definitely ask why you were not taken to Woolworths office to be searched.

OMG - thats awful, definately complain to someone. Woolworths should have stopped you outside the store, as if you steal something and then stand outside the door and smoke a ciggy. Ask them to check their cctv aswell - what about the person who had purse stolen - have they found it yet??

all we did was go into woolworths picked up a coat for little un paid for it walked out and stood outside having a cigerette so why not stop us then? then went to the bank

Legally they are entitled to conduct a stop and search if they have reasonable cause to and as sad as it seems it will be the answer you get

I would complain to Woolies as well that's really dreadful am as shocked as anyone.

ps if you bought something from Woolies the least they should do is refund you your money and pay you compensation

Complain to the police and to Woolworths ask both for an explanation as to why they did what they did and just to make them take you seriously ask your point of contact for the Chief constables name and force HQ address and ask Woollies for the Customer Relations Director's name and HQ address

thats what we thought! after we had been in woolworths we even stood outside woolworths for 5 minutes as we were having a cigerette so if the staff in woolworths thought it was us why didnt their sercurity guard stop us outside? why wait until we are no where near woolworths and inside the bank

The alleged crime didn't take place in the bank but at woolies so nothing to do with the bank...perhaps they should have asked you to go back with them to an office at woolies
