Hello everyone from a very warm, sunny Holland.
Caz, I am glad you received the card, wish we all had a magic wand to take away your pain and discomfort.
Mary, thank you for your kind words.
When my auntie was in hospital back in 2005, I asked a doctor if cannabis would help the pain and muscle spasms. She was all for it, this was discussed openly. She didn't smoke, so tea made from this would have been the best way, but, thinking about how shaky and uncertain she was when walking, even with a rollator, I decided it would be too dangerous, she may have had a bad reaction.

I tried drinking this years ago, trying to ease pain, but it didn't work for me.Mind you, thinking about how I bought the one gram of cannabis, still can make me smile. I know some people who drink this and it really helps.

Wishing you all peace of mind and pain-free bodies, as far as this is possible.

Where are you off to Carole? Hope these next two weeks are easier for you till you get your break.

Hope everyone is bearing up and will catch up another day, I am so tired, had to get up early as o.h. was faffing about with diy stuff all day and then decided he wanted to cook dinner, so I ended up with a stack of washing up, why do they use so many things for just a simple meal? It's more work than when I do it myself and the diy was a pain, tv kept going on and off while he fiddled with new aerial and shower still isn't finished lol So much for having four days off last week, he has another 8 to use up - heeelp!!

He did a huge tuna and pasta bake so he could take some into work tomorrow too, to keep him going through his 12 hr shift and then the bike ride home. Won't be seeing much of him this week, it will be home, eat and sleep lol

Hoping to meet with Jules and Pat Monday afternoon, as they are in the area visiting Pat's dad.

love to you all

Thinking of you all, just been so busy this weekend with my daughter home. Back to work in the morning. Last of the counselling course Wednesday.
Two weeks to my holiday. Son will be here to look after the house. Starting to think about what I will take with me. I think it could be colder there than here. xxx

Thanks Dutch for updating us on YCaz, how I wish some relief could be found for her, what a wonderful spirit she's showing us. certainly adds perspective to the niggly problems of the day.
Hoping to hear good news of Deanna, and Daff, and dear Lynn we are with you.
gail I don't envy you the chickens, i have enough to clean up with 2 dogs and a cat and a bird.
Sharron I wish I could come and help you with the catheter, through 42 years I've become an unexpected expert in catheters and colostomy bags!!
Betty hope your day is calm . . .
Liz, eat your jacket potato and salad whether he likes it or not. Them's orders!
JoyceP how's our Toby? and you, of course . . .
Eileen there are stairs to climb out of the black hole, we are climbing with you.
Elaine hope things with your hubby will settle down and that they can improve things for him.

To everyone - hope you aren't offended if not being mentioned by name, my brain is in shutdown this morning.
It's getting quite chilly here, wretched winter probably will be early this year. On the positive side the trees are gorgeous, until the leaves all fall off and I get to clear them. I wish we could get an oil change like the car, the joints would appreciate it. We've been invaded by a flu bug this week, we've all been sick except Sarah, todays victim is Emlyn. I'm working this weekend, then another 12 days off before going back full time for Nov & Dec. Going part-time in January, hopefully it will be financially feasible, if not I'll just have to pick up extra shifts, there are lots available, we are short-staffed so often, very tiring these days. Colleen will be home for good in March, it's not been easy on the kids having her coming and going, Sarah's having more meltdowns and Gareth displaying a lot of anger (I'm sporting a bruised goose-egg on my forehead as evidence.). Hopefully they will both settle when she returns home for Nov & Dec.
Sending hugs to those who need them, have a good Sunday . .
Mary

I had a phone call from our lovely Betty on Saturday evening to say she is thinking of us all but can't get the computer up and running yet, bless her.
Scott is a bit better, and taking his meds, so hope things even out there for them all. Maria was at home so good all round. I love Betty's accent, so wish she lived closer tho so we could blarney over a cuppa!

I phoned Kathy and she sounds ok, altho missing her wine I think lol and trying to be good with cutting back the ciggies, but at this stressful time I can understand how hard that must be Kathy, so hope you get a good result from the biopsy and can then maybe start to cut out smoking too,

Ben, well done for getting on with your promotion so well and hope things continue to go smoothly.

Caz, been thinking about you and wishing I could phone you but with o.h. around so often it's hard to find a mo, he is on 12 hr shifts this coming week so home by 6.20 pm each day :>((( means I have to cook every evening for us. If he is at work I can have something makeshift if I want or do a salad and jkt spud etc but he won't have anything like that, fussy git!
He might have to change as his doctor told him yesterday he has high blood sugar and high cholesterol readings after his blood tests last week! Doctor didn't say he had to do anything different but has to have further tests in a few month's time which seems a bit daft, surely he should have given advice on what to do. First thing to go should be the cider, but as usual I found an empty but used pint glass in the room he uses as a dressingroom and store for his work stuff. It just proves as soon as he got home from work on Sat, at 6.30pm (his choice to work long Saturdays for the overtime, which he doesn't desperately need) he sneaked up and had a pint of strong white cider, will find the can later I expect, hidden away. Then I get the blame for driving him to drink! Don't think so, he had the same habit with his exwife and the woman he had the affair with that broke up his marriage, so we must have all been the ones to drive him to drink! Oh and he got banned for drink driving when he was 19 before any of us were around !

Have a good Sunday everyone, and hope you all find something joyful today.

love and hugs,
Lizxxx

Hi All, just nicely got up after an afternoon sleeping. My CT scan went ok and I got home to a message on the answer machine from my doctor asking how I was feeling and she has kept my appointment if I could still manage it. I thought why not, she agrees with me I was better on Tramadol but the patches were no good. I said I would stay on these for the weekend to see how they go but there is no change as yet.
She said a funny thing though, as I was leaving she said 'be very careful on the steps, you cant afford to fall down them now with that hip'. I didn't think much at the time but it's on my mind again now.

Kathy I hope the biopsy results come back ok, by the way I only go to the hospice because that's where my pain contol nurse is based, I obviously see her through my cancer as well there. I have heard of the funny fags before but I don't think I will be touching them.

I am missing Deanna as we all are, sending healing wishes and strength to her and Allen and Tony, they must feel helpless at this moment.

Happy birthday for yesterday Elaine.
Nice to see you Betty, get your computer up and running, can't have you running to the internet cafe all the time. Eileen Thanks for your card, I will be in touch.

Belated happy birthday elaine for yesterday .Hope hubby gets sorted out this week .It is bound to drag you both down xxx

Carole knew you would do fine with the driving .I have been driving over 30 years and have never driven on a motorway !! We don't have them here .

YCaz sorry to hear that your meds are not giving you the pain relief you need .Hope it is sorted out now .One of my relatives was in a hospice and she got funny fags to help her pain. Not saying you should resort to that as we don't want to visit you in the nick !!!

Liz hope things havent been too bad .You can't have murdered him yet or I would have read about it in the paper .Will speak or croak to you later .

Hope deanna is getting stronger we all miss her .

Gold star to Kathy who hasn't had a drink for a week now !!! My body is in shock with all the water I have been drinking . Just have to try and kick the fags now . Get the results of my biopsy 4 november .

With my halo about to strangle me I will off and do some gardening .Hoping you all have a good weekend

Hello all,

It seems that I am always appologising for not coming on here more often, so it's sorry yet again.
Several of you have sent me p.m's, offering to listen, but I can't seem to 'open up'yet.
Thanks for phoning-again-Joyce, it cheered me up.

I do read all the posts on here, and empathise with each and everyone of you who are going through a really bad time.

Will post when I can dig myself out of this deep hole.

What a day yesterday. The driving skills & assessment started at 9 am at the office. My friend drove first, them me. Left Lincoln, went to Ollerton, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Matlock, Matlock Baths, Huddersfield, Snake pass, Woodhead pass, Near Leeds, M62, Gainsborough and home. We both drove twice, stopped for coffee about eleven, then lunch at one. I was rather tense at the end of it! But it was good. Got lots of tips to drive more economically, and safely. Thats over until 18 months when we get a two hour lesson. Instructor is an ex cop instructor of bikes, and car driving. Also has licenses to drive all sorts of classes of veihcles.
Took two imodium and so felt secure!!

My sister came this morning with one of her grandsons. Two years old. We went for a walk with the dog in a local wood. We all enjoyed it.

Must get some jobs done at home.

best wishes to you all

I am only on here because I finally have persuade the nurse to come and,I hope, change the old man's catheter. It has leaked since she fitted it about three weeks ago.
First I was told to make him drink more, then she came and said there was nothing wrong with it.Yesterday we were told it was because he has his knee rested on a pillow in bed and it was making it run uphill.
Meanwhile I am washing three pairs of traousers a day,he's uncomfortable and doesn't want to go outdoors because wind on wet isn't half cold.
On top of that the tumble dryer has broken down and I have to get another.Ordered on express delivery fron the catalogue who e-mailed to say it was out of stock. After long phone call it is coming on Tuesday.
This morning took other half to station.Would not be long, didn't take mobile, had puncture. How fortuitous that I dressed before I went, don't always.
Oh,butter,butter,butter,jam,jam,jam!!!!
