Dear YCaz
I hope they can sort out something for you. If your reaction to the morphine and synthetic Morphine isn't life-threatening, and if there is no other effective med available, sometimes they will order an anithistamine to be taken with it, to reduce or eliminate the reaction.
All I can say is, you are one brave lady, and I wish you the best possible degree of comfort.
Love
Mary

Hi Joyce, I haven't been called hen since my uncle died, he always called me that, he was from Scotland.
The meeting Chris was in this morning was about me, updating the rest of the doctors at the hospice. She said I seem to have an intolerance to morphine as well as other things. I have to carry on taking them as well as the anti nausea tablets I still had from when I was on chemo. Thanks Gail I had forgotten I still had them. She said the shaking is a new one on her but she is meetiing with my doctors practice this afternoon about all the women on chemo and morphine, good timing. It will be brought up about me and see if any of the doctors have any other ideas. I managed to eat a bit of toast half an hour ago but the anti whatsit tablet doesn't seem to be working. I am going to bed when sister has hung my washing out for me, she's a good un, she washed it as well.
Chris is going to ring me when the meeting finishes this afternoon so I will have a better idea of what's going on. I wish I was normal and didn't have these reactions, life would be a lot easier.

Caz hi lass xx

I have been reading your postings of the last few days and wonder just where you get the energy from to chat away like a parrot, lol.......joking apart I know it is hard for you and bless you for being you and being there for the rest of us xx
So our Cocky is still up to his tricks I hear, I still pull up his photo's from time to time, yours also but Cocky is better looking than you 'hen'..a term of endearment used in Scotland I might add.
It would appear patience is a virtue but yours must be stretched by now awaiting feedback on which/what medication is best suited to you?. the sooner these are sorted out then hopefully an improvement with pain level will ensue.
Take care my bonnie lassie, prayers are winging your way, love

He sound just wonderful Caz, let us know how you get on.

Gail

YorkshireCaz Report 16 Oct 2008 08:58

Lol Gail, he does everything I do but last time my sister was here she dipped his straw in his water and offered him a drink. Now that's the way he drinks, dips a straw in his water and licks it off. You won't believe this but he flattens one end of one and uses it as a fork for his scrambled egg, can get some on as well. Ten minutes ago I put a dish out for his weetabix, those tiny fruit and nut ones, but forgot to put it in, came out of the kitchen with him shouting weetabix, weetabix after me.
I'll shut up about him now.
Afer my effort to get dressed I feel a lot worse now so it's nearly time to ring Chris, see what she suggests.

Just watch your Cockateil does not pinch your straw from your drink. I use straws all the time, especially when I am out. Do not make as much mess that way.

Gail

YorkshireCaz Report 16 Oct 2008 08:13

That sounds better Gail if the shakes go, it makes walking dificult when my legs shake as well as being weak.
I do have some straws, don't laugh but we buy them for Cockateil, he loves them and uses them for all sorts of things.

Caz, the shakes will go it just takes some getting used to. Dad was on the liquid morph as well as tablets, when he had stomach cancer, it took some time for the shakes to go, but they did stop.

Do you have any straws, it is one way to get a drink when you have the shakes.

Gail, even if I get some anti-nausea meds I will still shake though won't I, or does it go when I get used to it. When resting my hand on computer it sound like I am tapping out morse code with my nails. Should really go get washed and dressed but if I stand up I go light headed and wobbly, puts me off a bit.

Caz I'm so sorry to hear how poorly the meds are making you feel. Hope Chris can help you and you are able to have the CT scan.xxx

In a rush again as have to go on the driving
assesment. I took two imodium last night, my mouth is like a bird cage bottom. My head aches with tension. But as I said earlier I need to tell myself how lucky I am to be fit and well enough to do this. I don't want to drive on a motorway though!! Help don't let them do this to me :o(

I know I'll get through it!!! :o)

Have a good day xx

Caz the Tramadol and Morphine give me the shakes really badly. Tramadol less so than the morphine though. Yes, both make me feel very strange, so only take mine now at night. You cannot do that.

Please ask for anti nausea meds, then decide weather to go off it or not. It does take time to get adjusted though as Mary said.

Hi Gail, I had some toast an hour ago and stomach feels ok just now. My lags and hands are shaking though and I feel weird and confused, does it make any sense. When on Tramadol I never had any problems, I tolerated it well and would rather go back o it.
I have fallen asleep twice while writing this so am going back to bed when I've spoken to Chris.

GranOfOzRubySlippers Report 16 Oct 2008 07:07

Caz, it upsets my tummy as well. I have found that if I eat before taking I am not as sick. I only take Tramadol though, and that makes me sick as well. If you are this sick the meds will not work as cannot get into your system. Sounds like you need some anti nausea meds. Morphine always makes me sick. The headache is probably from dehydration.

I truly hope they can sort it today so you can have your scan.

What's a few more days Mary, not sure if I can stand it. I going to ring Chris this morning as soon as she gets there and have a word. I daren't go far from the bathroom with sickness and I haven't had anything to eat since about ten yesterday morning. I'm still shaking and feeling dizzy and to cap it all wokw up with a headache. I know if I am like this tomorrow I will have to cancel my ct scan.

Caz it honestly may take a few days for your body to adjust, if you can hang in for a few more days it may very well improve.
Good luck,
and love,
