elaine, sorry your OH has to have yet more treatment. Looking positively at it maybe a pacemaker will be the answer to his problems.

Gail so sorry you are having yet more problems with your brother and the estate. It is time somebody pointed out he is only a small part of the whole family. and I would certainly not take any notice of his instructions not to touch anything (especially as he was not there). If he is so keen to be in charge why doesn't that keenness make him keep the garden tidy?

Kathy that doesn't sound a nice procedure but was it necessary for your health? what else can they do?

Caz, glad you have replacement patches (when you can find them), hope they work and you no longer itch!

HI all

Sorry to hear that some of you are having a bad time .Hope things get better soon .

I just had a call from the hospital .The doc I saw yesterday thinks I am very nervous and wants me treated asap so I go in on monday for pre op check .Have op tuesday then all going well home wednesday .

Next question how do I survive without my fags and wine ??? and my biggest addiction the internet ????

I asked the girl if they provide patches she said no but you can go outside for a smoke !!!!

If I could quit it would save a fortune maybe a few days in hospital is what I need !!!

Had planned to get on with some gardening today but as usual it is raining .Could do the H thing but can't be bothered so will go read my book

love to all

Hi Gail,

You are certainly going through a very difficult time lately, on top of all your other worries.
How sad and annoying that your brother is treating you and your other siblings this way.Has he always been so controlling and bossy? Yes, it is sad and depressing to be in a loved one's home after their death.
Kathy, why did your doctor want to put a metal tube down your throat?
I have had about 10-11 bronchoscopes done years ago, before and after my lung was removed. The last time I went to my lung specialist, (he took an early pension, I am sorry to say)he wanted to do another one, but I also refused.
Elaine, sorry to read about your husband's troubles, and hope he will be helped soon, so can start getting better at last. Does he have an artificial valve? I had my Mitral valve repaired almost 15 years ago, it seems to be o.k.Try not to worry, and try to get some sleep, you will need it.
I took your advice Liz, went to the g.p this morning, will know the results next tuesday or wednesday.
Must get something done, it is such beautiful weather, almost like a summer day here.

Am bad with names, but want to include everyone, so love to you all, and God bless.

Sorry, have been very quite past few days. Had to go to funeral then to sort some things at my dads. Needed some legal papers for solicitor and could not find them as brother has every thing to his house, thought we may get lucky. Brother had changed the locks to dads house, when I finally got hold of the keys I had a set cut for all of us and not just him. Brother is away on holidays overseas for the next few weeks so everything just stops.

Was not at all happy being in the house, it feels soooo empty now. The grass is a foot high and so much needs doing to keep the house going and I feel so useless not being able to do anything. Plus I have instructions (brother again) not to touch anything, I just want to scream.

Liz, Had the same thing with my sinus, also had it operated on twice, (through the mouth) very nasty, and do not blame you for not going back.

be back later

Love and hugs

Gail

Hi Kathy, poor you, that can't have been nice, what does he suggest now you don't want a tube in your throat?

I had a dreadful time once with a metal thing put up one nostril to wash out my sinuses (in the late 1970s). It was awful and what was worse was that I had to walk back past the waiting room with it still in my nose! I should think I scared everyone else away.
Then they said, make an appointment to come back and have the other side done! I don't think so, still haven't been back 30 years later lol

Am struggling to keep up with everything at the mo so my apologies to all I owe calls or replies to and hope I will get round to you sometime soon.

Next week will be awful, o.h. has four days off work, it's bad enough with him on nights so around most of the day, next week 4 x 24 Help lol

Take care everyone and hope life is good to you

the coward who wouldn't allow the doctor to put a metal tube down her throat today !!!

apparently I am one in a thousand who refuses to have the prosedure done .!! Made me feel better and I don't think !!

Why can they not realise that we with anxiety problems can't cope easily with this sort of invasive treatments ?

Hope your new patches help Caz.At least the itching has stopped.

As I said to Joyce, when she phoned me some days ago, I sometimes feel so out of sorts that I can't bring myself to even post here. When reading through everyone's messages, it makes me feel guilty for mentioning my tales of woe.

One of my daughter's phoned this morning to say that her eldest step daughter gave birth to a boy at 6.15 this morning. They are calling him Storm!! She warned me not to make any jokes about this name when we go to see mum& dad & Storm.Hope his character turns out to be sunny, not stormy....

The return journey from Amsterdam last week was the wierdest I have ever experienced, it still makes me giggle though. If I had been alone,Í don't think I would have found it funny, especially after dark.

Wishing you all well, and a sunny afternoon.

Hey Caz the Durogesic is excellent, hard to find the patches so I always write the date on them to make it easier to find and keep the days straight. The adhesive on the clear ones seems much less irritating than the others.
Good luck

YorkshireCaz Report 7 Oct 2008 18:45

Hello all, Mary the patch I have now is Durogesic DTrans transdermal patch, it releases 12 mcg/hr.
They are tiny about an inch square and transparent, of course with my hands not doing as my brain wants them to do it was awkward to get on this morning. I only have one eye that sees anything properly, I opened the big packet and couldn't see anything, then saw this tiny little transparent thing against the foil insides. They could have at least put a coloured backing on lol. Then when my sister came and I wanted to show her I couldn't find the blooming thing.

At least the cream she gave me has stopped the itching on my now two red patches.
Going to get ready for bed, I am shattered after a long day family hunting. We fell lucky and found my sisters husbands family back to 1690, and he was a Yeoman. Thank the Lord for parish records.

Love and hugs to all

Morning, Caz I'm glad you were able to see the Dr so quickly, we use Dilaudid a lot via patch (hydromorphone - synthetic morphine, usually well-tolerated). be sure you change the location of the patch each time you re-apply a new one.
One wonderful 'side effect' of Dilaudid is that it provides a bit of a feeling of well-being, which I'm sure you'd appreciate.
have a better day,
hugs

Morning all, thanks for advice Mary, I rung my doctor and had a word, she said she wanted to see it for herself so booked me in last night. She said I have an intolerance to it and if anyone was going to it would be me, laughing, (remember chemo?)
I have got another type now that is slightly higher dose but changed every 72 hours instead of a week, also some cream as she was surprised at how bad it still was after nearly a week.
She also noticed I had slipped back out of going for a lie down with my feet up in the afternoon, my ankles and feet are very puffy again, she's not worried as it is because I can't walk very well so not using the muscles properly.
I have to go back next Friday to check on how the patches are working, only thing is, I checked the date when I got home and it the same afternoon I have my CT scan. Nothing's ever easy is it.
I am like Eileen and useless with names (ask Dutch lol) so I include everyone in hoping you have a good day.

Love and hugs to all

Hi Caz, I hope you can sort something with the patches, they can be such an effective way of dosing. There is more than one type and one brand so hopefully a change would fix your reaction. We use a lot of the patches in my job, very few react, but it does happen. Sometimes a change of location of the patch will help. If there is no choice available, taking antihistamine might be effective in the short term. Please don't let it go on too long before reporting it.
sending hugs,
Mary
