Whitenancy Report 7 Sep 2008 13:47

Took mother home yesterday and the cleaning company had not done half they were supposed to do. They reckoned they had been in all week yet the sofa and all the upholstery were still wet, they seem to have thrown out lots of stuff that was probably salvageable now mother hasnt got any cutlery or kitchen utensil not even a tin opener. They havnt cleaned any of the surfaces in the living room and the front windowsill was still full of dead flies! and this was supposed to be a deep clean!!!.
Ended up having to leave mother crying with the disappointment of it all as we had not arranged to stay over night and had to get back for the kids.
Then today mother rings me up with this long list of complaints about what has not been done and/or stuff that is missing and she gets bogged down with the fact that when they took the old cooker out of the garden they didnt take some bit of polystyrene that were on top of it after 20 mins of arguing round in circles i put the phone down so i expect that she is on the phone my sister telling her what a rude and inconsiderate daughter i am.

Tenerife Sun Report 7 Sep 2008 10:18

Hi
Just popped in to let you know that there is no sun this morning and to ask who sent the rain? Not a lot but enough to make everything outside wet. So I have left Tony mopping the patio and doing some ironing while I escaped into Wendy´s to speak to you. still warm here despite the rain though. Hopefully it will clear the humidity which is very tiring when you have to walk up lots and lots of steps from the town to here. Actually yesterday we stopped on the way up and had lunch at a restaurant overlooking Puerto de la Cruz, Calamare, garlic bread followed by Spaghetti bolognese plus a glass or two of white wine.

Won´t go into individual replies except to say it is good to see a post from caz on here. My Dad used to have one of those walkers and he found it very useful.

Betty have you checked your local Chemist/Pharmacy, if they have not got them the should be able to order in.

Ben, you comment about family, I agree totally, some cannot let you lead your own life, without butting in.

Y/Caz, glad the eye specialist went well, glad you are getting new thinggy to being able to get around. Hope the leg improves. Your niece sounds like a gem. Love my group hug.

Ann in Tennareef, how lovely it sounds, and you are away from the floods in parts of England.

It is supposed to be spring here now, you would not know it though. A few things are starting to bloom and are budding, some of my fruit trees bloomed a couple of weeks ago and were hit with frost, so no fruit again this year. Love making jam and bottling fruit. We do get lovely fresh strawberries, but they never make it inside.

OH is putting in a veg patch this year, we did not have one last year due to water, as the year before we had to let it go as not enough water, and very strict restrictions. Looking forward to some lovely fresh vegs this year, and we finally had our large tank repaired so will hopefully now get full if we get spring rain.

I hope that you are all feeling okay.

Gail

YorkshireCaz Report 6 Sep 2008 18:33

Hi everyone, thought I'd better show I'm still here before you all thought I had gone to Australia to see Gail. I'm not up to sitting for any length of time yet but certainly better thanks to the morphine patches. My doc has had to give me a higher strength patch as the first lot weren't enough. I am still on Tramadol and Nurofen so it's no wonder I feel spaced out, but hey, who cares when I am free from that horrid pain. I still get that rotten shock through my hip, down leg and through outside of foot to my toes when I sit down, so I don't stay sat for long.

Thanks for all your pm's and messages, to be honest I don't remember much about the last fortnight or so, it seems all rolled into a big fuzz of pain. I'm still waiting to see my Neurologist about the cause of it, ie. the slipped discs, the cancer in pelvis or the deterioration at bottom of spine.

I'm having real trouble walking now so my niece has been this morning, she is a phyiotherapist, and she brought a walking aid from work for me to try. It's a not a zimmer, but has four wheels and two handles with brakes, also has a seat for me to sit on half way to where I'm going and a tray and basket. It was brilliant, I could get through the opening to kitchen, get things from cupboard and put them on tray to take across kitchen, I have to take things one by one now, that's if I can carry them at all. She has rung a mobility place and they are getting me one, the one I liked from the disability catalogue, which is the same as she brought only more modern. She or my sister will go and pick it up for me at the weekend. Nieces are a blessing, well mine is, she does all sorts for me.

Can't sit any more so will go now, but to any of you who knew about my visit to eye hospital (thanks to Dutch, are you listening Dutch?) It was ok, my consultant is not worried about my eyes and wants me to stay on the same drops as my pressure has been stable since I started on them. I have some inflamation of my eyelids and she thinks that is what is causing the bloodshot whites but it is nothing to worry about, don't even need any ointment or anything, just nice hot water bathing.

I won't be on as regular as I used to be for a while, but I still read as I can do that stood up.

Love and hugs to everyone
Caz xx

Hi Ben, good to see you back, and hope things continue to go as well as they sound they are, does that make sense? You are doing well ignoring the ocd - hope this can be a turning point for you.
Take care,

Hi

I am back. Sorry I havent posted for a while. I am quite OK now. I am not paying attention as much to the rituals and have even resisted many of them.

Yes, I read Caroles facebook invitations. If anyone wants to add me just pm me and I will give you my full name.

I read about people we know thinking they can say what they want> I hate people who think they can say what they want whether it is offensive or not. Especially relatives. If someone doesnt like what someone else does then they should keep it to themselves.

Carole, Betty is amazing and wouldn't it be great to have a meet with her so we could spend time with her and see the area she obviously loves so much. Another one on my visit list when I win the lottery lol
You wouldn't see me for dust if I had the money to go visit all the lovely people I know from these boards. Glad you can keep a sense of humour Betty, you are a star!!!

Ann, get off the computer and out in the sun and warm air , it's all you will get this year I fear.
I just got a line of washing out and a duvet I wanted to freshen up, so thought the blow would do it good, and as the song goes, Down came the rain!
Now have things festooned everywhere on hangers and airers, o.h. will be so pleased when he gets home lol
Must take my own advice and get off this computer and do some bits and bobs. Wanted to go out and do some errands but so very tired, not sure I feel like driving - I won't do it if I don't feel right, would hate to cause an accident.

love and hugs to all,
Lizxx

Helo again,
Sorry Carol, should have said wish you were all here in the sun instead of in the awful weather you are having.

A bit more cloud today and not much sun so far but still warm. Yesterday was very hot and there was a glorious sunset last night over the sea

Excuse any mistakes, not used to the Spanish keyboard.

Claire, glad you are getting your mother home and hope things work out for her now, maybe she will see sense at last?

Betty, hadn't realised how much you have been through, my love, hope you can get a satisfactory solution soon, so you aren't so uncomfy and worried about accidents. My ibs always causes me worry and I always carry spare pants, wet wipes etc just in case, luckily so far I haven't needed them but have had accidents at home when I have just hung on that bit too long. When I have to go, I have to go - Sorry if too much information lol Won't get invited anywhere now will I lol? I too have to be careful if I sneeze or cough or laugh too much lol

Vicky, there was I thinking Scotland was basking in sunshine, been pouring down most of the day here, I even got my boots out as I normally wear flipflops but it was so cold and wet got my boots and socks on to go to the hairdressers. Thanks for the lovely card hon.

love and hugs to you all, I am really tired, fell asleep earlier on the sofa as I have been disturned every morning this week so haven't had enough sleep.
Could do with finding somewhere deserted, and warm where I could just chill, relax and sleep, would be wonderful.

Just a quickie, I spoke with Kathy yesterday and put up a thread, her throat is a bit better, her kitchen is done, no news of the results of J's resits, and she has visitors staying till after the weekend so won't get on much till they are gone.

look for thread Kathy by the sea!

Funeral date is 23rd Sept at 11.45 am - will be a struggle but I will get there, a friend will pick me up as I won't be awake enough to drive and will look like a zombie. Awful time, neither morning or lunchtime, lots of tums will be growling.
Lizxx

Tenerife Sun, thanks for your kind words ( are you Ann?)

edited later, just re read the thread a bit, and seen that you are indeed our Ann. thanks hon. x

Dutch, he will be here at 7 this evening, sorry and I will probably be getting dinner.
Will talk soon.
