How kind you all are. The negative thread certainly didn't achieve what it should have, i.e. made us all feel we should pull up our socks, get on with it, and stop moaning/grumbling. We can't change how the world is, how people are treated, all the horrors, torment others go through, even though we would all love to. This thread is far, far better than the (extremley good) theraphy I had last year. Thank you all for your unfailing kindness and sympathy.

Hello Ann. Sorry for maybe being too vague, I KNOW that no-one on here would ever say "snap out of it", I was refering to other people who have never been through a depression, or whatever you would call it, and there are enough 'waiting in the wings' to tell us this.

My good news: My badly handicapped daughter has been planning something for some time. She phoned today to say they are going to north Wales (I knew this) on the 21st of this month, staying for their eldest daughter's 25th birthday, then coming back via Boulogne to pick me up & take me back to their place. This means she has to pump herself full of painkillers and prednison etc.to withstand the journey, but she doesn't mind at all, is extremely cheerful about it, and looking forward to this immensely.
My other daughter who lives two doors down, wants me to go with them for a weekend to Dublin in november. If they book a.s.a.p, we can get a cheap flight with Ryan Air, and sleep in a youth hostel, as we have done a lot of times before. If I don't go, it is at least nice to know that they want me to be with them. So, I feel blessed, even though my body is a wreck, and mind not a happy bunny lately.

Eileen, none of your regular friends on here would dream of telling you to snap out of it so please continue to post, we are here from you. Look forward to your happier news.

Very windy here today, jusy right for blowing some cobwebs away.
I am amazed that you can remember everyone's names Carole! Many of you can too, sooo kind and caring. This thread is really a great help. After an initial bout of 'cold feet', I plucked up courage to come on here again, and am really pleased I did.The probelems are still there, health still the same, but, I can feel a lightening of the big burden.Hope it continues.
Having overcome cancer (lung removed in '83) , open-heart surgery in '93, then several other bad scares since then, all pale when you get these terrible depressions, anxieties, panic attacks etc.etc.because you can't put your finger on what is causing them most of the time, can you?Being told to "snap out of it", or coming accross those that have no idea how you feel inside, get impatient with you, or even unfriendly, doesn't help your self-confidence, the little you may have left, that is.Liz, how are your OH's 'nether regions'?
Have some happier news to tell later.

You know as soon as I saw Egyptian goddesses post I just knew it was going to have an effect on our regular posters. Not the sort of support we want for people on here and not the sort we usually get. But that is just one person, she is entitled to her opinions as we all are, just that hers are not very productive or supportive and is actually ver unfeeling, so you don't have to take any notice.

Please, Gail and YCaz, please don't let it stop you posting, you need this thread, you need us. All of your friends on here are here to support you. Please feel that you can come on here and moan, complain, tell us how you hurt. Everyone faces their problems differently and both of you have more problems than most people. We don't think that counting your blessings is the answer, we think you need your friends support. And, if I were either of you, I would have great trouble finding any blessings to count. and, yes I know about people suffering with famine, displaced homes etc. Doesn't mean that because we support you we think any less of the world's suffering people.

so COME BACK Gail and YCaz and talk to us please!!!

Just a quick message to Caz, Gail and anyone who feels put off by EG post.
We all put our feelings and opinions on here, EG has done the same. It doesn't mean we have to agree or even bother with her opinion. She has just said it is her way of trying to shake herself out of feeling bad, we all have different coping methods so come on girls, keep visiting the thread and posting so we know how you are, otherwise you will get us all worrying, we like to see people check in so we know you are ok. Marcia is more of an expert than EG so re read her post and realise how useful this thread is to us all, and also to the professionals who can learn more about depression and anxiety from here than any text book!!!
Caz, so sorry you are feeling so poorly, do come on here and talk to us.
Gail, hope today is better for you, love.
Carole, you take care, thanks for thoughts for Lizzie, she will be having her radio therapy today - bet she had to go during the downpour knowing her luck, but hope she can get back to her Dad's later today, she will feel happier being there altho it isn't so easy to visit as miles out of the city in the opposite direction to anywhere I need to go.
Think of the elephant's bum on a pea cycling home if it chucks it down again at 2 ish!
Blue skies now with the clouds blowing away so hope it stays bright the rest of the day, drain was flooded a while ago -will be clear again when I go to look.
Back to bed, rain woke me, see you all later maybe.
Take care, and keep reading and posting.
love
Lizxxx

Do you know I was thinking the same as you two.
I replied to part of Egyptian Goddess message, but ignored the bit I felt most upset about. This morning I thought I would reply to it, to find Gail and Caz had said how that sort of statement hurts. As if we do not know the problems in the world. We also see what is going on and cry at the nature of this world.
But depression is an imbalance in the chemicals in our brains, so no amount of counting our blessings will change that. Rich as well as poor get it! Famous and infamous, and ordinary people like us. So with respect EG read a little about depression try it yourself for a year or two then come back and tell us how you felt when people told you to count your blessings. My psychologist said I have to be more assertive so I should have said how I felt last night when I read that post

Gail and Caz I'm so sorry to have you hurt, that was just one post in nearly 3000, so don't let it put you off. As you can see most people stay away or join in in good spirits with us. xxx

Dad is still not very good. Mum and neice went yesterday he is not eating, drinking or happy.

My friend with FM is still in hospital also not very well
with pain in her abdomen

Liz thinking of your friend bless her.xx

Work calls so see you all later xxx

Gail I will be joining you, it took a lot of courage to post my message. I feel so fragile at the moment so to be told in other words, to stop complaining and get on with it was like a slap in the face.
I have no blessings to count at moment, I have nothing but pain and don't know how much longer I can put up with it.

Egyptian Goddess is entitled to an opinion.

BUT, she has put me off posting for a while.

We are all aware what does happen in this world and the unfairness of it all.

We are also fighting our own demons, and her attitude does not help anyone.

Was going to try let loose, now feel unable to do so. I came on this thread for understanding, which most of us have. But, to be judged in this way, I did not join this thread for.

Didn't get to see my friend, I realised I was too wooly headed to drive safely so had to ring and explain and I will visit her at her Dad's later in the week if she definitely goes back there after today's radiotherapy. When the cfs slows me up more than usual, I won't risk driving in case I lose concentration and have an accident. Last thing I need is to hurt myself or anyone else and be unable to get around. I think I have been overdoing things lately.
Betty, I have to go and have scan, urologist will arrange it for me, just to check out bladder and kidneys, he said he thought I might have had a crystal of calcium, a stone starting that I managed to flush though but he wants to check and be sure.

O.h. said it took longer to get home than to get to work but wasn't too bad, he had a soak in the bath and dinner and went to bed before 10pm so will be up soon, 4.40am and ready for the off lol
He hasn't sent the licence back yet but doesn't really matter as it is cancelled now anyway so he can't use it.
Have put a thread up for MaxiMary, her granddaughter MiniMary has shingles, poor child so is feeling very poorly.
love and hugs
